Key West Week
January 2003

Doug Harkrider Tops Fourteen Other F28s

Many of you know already that there were 14 F-28Rs racing at Key West last
week. The Harkriders of GA--Bob and Doug, Dean Holcomb of Atlanta, along
with sailmaker Doug Fisher of Sarasota, won the event in a close battle
with
at least 4 other top contenders including Steve Marsh of the Finish Line,
Don Wigston of Atlanta, and Bob Gleason of the Multihull Source in New
England. The fleet did not race the final day due to a forecast of winds in
the mid-20s, very cold temperatures in the low 50s, and huge waves. In a
nutshell, tactics and sail handling was the winning combination in each
race
as there were multiple sailmakers represented, both in the sails and
onboard. Wrapped chutes and shrimping changed the leaders in several races.
