I am going to be in Tampa for a few days. Any place to charter a cat? I won't be far from Boca Ciega. I don't need anything fancy. A Hobie 16 would do. I just want to get on the water with a few friends.

Thanks

Hey Tom. Clearwater sailing center has some boats, not sure if it's members only, or how it works.

I'm boatless.

I rented from CSS a couple of years ago. Overall pretty good but make sure you get a boat in good condition. I lost a rig due to a crappy ringding on a side stay. Woulda been a bigger problem had we not been directly upwind from the club. They made things right by upgrading us from the H16 to their Tiger.

Thanks, I will check CSS out. We are leaning towards a rental in Clearwater. Lots of places by owner for not much scratch.

CSS used to be for members only (around $1200), but i just looked and they now say they rent to non members too -http://www.clearwatercommunitysailing.org/boat-rentals/
be warned you will be confined to area near the center and not allowed to go under any bridges (out to the gulf via sandkey bridge, north via memorial causeway and south via the belaire bridge) and the sailing in that part of the bay is filled with shallows and very limited, esp during a low tide. In a very high tide (2.5'+ you are fine). If it was me, i wouldn't rent from them unless it was a high tide.

there are tri rentals (windriders 17 and 18's) at dunedin causeway - http://www.sailhoneymoon.com/
In med - heavy air, these are a blast

there are gcat and wave rentals in north anna maria island (longboat key) - http://coastalwatersportsami.com/index.html

there is a veritable s*ton of boats at Sarasota Sailing Center, but not sure how many are actually there for rent (or sailing)

It's kind of a mash-up museum, graveyard, and carbon pornfest...

You can try online boating platforms, there are plenty of boating platforms in the U.S now like Boatsetter and Clickandboat, my cousin actually got a boat from them, though he says it was kind of expensive for a weekly charter, but you can check.

Accurate description...they don't have any rentals to speak of, if you're good at making friends you can sometimes hitch a ride...

Hi) I rented a boat here https://2yachts.com Good rental conditions, at an affordable price. My boat was in perfect condition with everything I needed. I hope you can find what you need. Good luck!
