I'd like to know the jib sail area and main sail area of the NACRA 5.2. I know the total area of both is 220 sq ft, but would like to know the individual area of the main sail and the jib. Also would like to buy a used/new 5.2 mast in the Dallas Ft Worth area. Thank you.

Are you building a boat or something? If so, what type?

Thank you ERICE for the link. I did not find the NACRA 5.2 there. Found 18 square,5.5sl, 5.0 etc but no 5.2. Thank anyway because it's a good link. My boat is TRRC 1802M80K and I've had it since the early 90's but its spent more time in storage than on the lake. Past boats were Hobie 14 and NACRA 18square (I really miss that boat {the 18 square not the Hobie 14}. Windsurfing and work got in the way in the '90s.

DENNISMe.....no, not building, just have the wants for a NEW NACRA and wanted to compare the 5.2 with newer NACRA. I did try to build a design by JohnLindal early 90's using the stich and glue and marine plywood method. Hulls got built but left behind when I was relocated from where I lived. Shoulda kept the boat plans. I'm in the mood to try again. Built rowing shells with stich and glue from CLCC (Oxford Shell) and Wayland Marine (Merry shell).

jcasto1........I've no idea how you knew I needed a 5.2 mast. The one I have is servicable but has a dent and corrosion from yrs of storage at Jim's Boat Barn in Corpus Christi Tx. The damage is my fault from the way I stored it. Disimilar metals touching each other type thing. Thank you.

Roland, I can keep up with most newer Nacras on my 5.2, but only with the badly sailed F18s though... Probably worth refitting the 5.2. One just sold near me for only 130 USD! I was just too late to snap that up ....

Keep us posted if you do build at some time in the future, there are lots of builders here and interested folks like myself.

Regards,
Dennis.

ERICE.............................Thanks again. I had stopped looking around lines 30-42 and expected it to be in that area. Wrong. Line 180 it is.

I'll probably keep the 5.2. Solid beams and hulls and no leakage. I installed the newer style uphaul *hook* at the top of the mast this week. The original had the *stopper* swagged on the uphaul wire and the Vee for it to go into. *Stopper* is the wrong term but I can't remember the proper term right now.

I might have a interest in the jib. I believe it would cost tooooo much to ship a mast that distance. I already have a spare main. Zipper any good in the jib? Never hurt to ask.
