Can any P-19 owners explain or post a photo on how to rig my centerboards so the're adjustable. I remember a bungee system was used a while back but I don't remember the details.
TIA,
Jack

I was under the impression that you either wanted them all down or all up because having them in between creted lots of turbulance in the well. Am I bassackwards here?

Here's a pic of a Mystere system. I'm sure it's the same thing.
The aft line pulls them down. There is a front line, has a turning block just like the aft one for kicking them up.

The bungie adds friction to hold the board in the set position.

And though Mystere's have gaskets my boards are fully up or fully down.

It's pouring outside now so I can't take a photo. I'll try to explain the setup. It's pretty simple. Each centerboard had a short piece of pvc pipe that slips thru a hole in the board. This piece of pvc acts as a kind of axle allowing the board to pivot into or out of the trunk. The outboard end of this piece of pvc has a small hole that has a 3/8"(I think) piece of shock cord with a stopper knot to hold it in place. The other end of this piece of shock cord is formed into a loop. Hog rings work well here if they are taped to avoid scratching. This loop slides over the shroud chainplate with no slack. When you are going downwind you want your boards up, but not completely up into the trunk because the P19 doesn't have gaskets like the Tornado and you get gurgling in the trunk. The idea is to rotate the board up most of the way and lock it in place. To do this you push the piece of shock cord a couple of inches forward of the verticle slot in the trunk where it normally stays out of the way. You then push the centerboard up and rotate it forward until it jams against the shock cord and stays in place. It's a very simple, foolproof system. If this still doesn't make sense let me know and I'll send you photos tomorrow. Greg

thats exactly what mine has, I have just never locked the boards with the shockcord, I've been just leaving them down, i'll have to try that.

I hate reinventing the wheel so thanks for the responses. Greg describes the rig I remembered. Your desription is great but a photo might keep me from wasting bungee. Interesting rig on the Mystere though.
Thanks again,
Jack

Thr c'board system on a P19 was lifted directly from the Tornado, but improved on. The boards are actually crescent shaped viewed from the side so that unlike the T, the board fully fills the well in any position from fully down to fully up. This costs some drag from increased wetted area when fully down compared to the T centerboards, but the advantages are obvious.

Thanks for the photos Greg. I like your shroud cover. I'm using a peiece of washing machine discharge hose for my covers. Its thick, you can cut it to any length, and it will last a lifetime.
