*Abandoned Worrell Teams Welcomed to Sail Tybee 500 & Great Texas Race
Late Monday night (3/31/03) organizers of the Tybee 500 said they would fully accommodate all the teams that were set to race the Worrell 1000. *6th Annual Triple Crown of Distance Races Coming in April
A series of three distance races are coming up in April just before the Worrell 1000 scheduled in southeastern U.S. The first race is the Miami-Key Largo Race on April 12 (a 45-mile drag race down the Intracoastal Waterway) , followed by the Hogsbreath - Keys 100 on April 26-27 (a 100-mile ocean race from Key Largo to Key West with a stop in Marathon at the halfway point), and finally the Mug Race on May 3 (a jaunt down the St Johns River from Palatka to Jacksonville, FL)

*Worrell 1000 Officially Canceled for 2003
A Press Release just came in (Saturday 9AM, 3/29/03) that officially announces the cancelation of the 2003 race. The news relase to the media was apparently sent out to the media after the competitors were notified. For more on this story, click here or on the headline!

*Steve Fossett's PlayStation Breaks Another Record
With Florida Key's sailmaker, Dave Calvert of Calvert Sails, again aboard, PlayStation broke the "Columbus Route" record from Cadiz, Spain to San Salvadore via the Canaries in 9 days 13 hours 31 mins 18 secs, averaging 16.93 kts. For the complete story Click Here!

*Little America's Cup Revived
After seven years of laying dormant the International Catamaran Challenge Trophy is going to happen again in Newport, RI Sept 27-Oct 2 in a round-robin, match-race format on production beach cats -- the Formula 18HT Javelin 2. There will a sail-off for the Defenders (USA Sailors) and for the Challengers (countries other than USA). Click here for the full story!

*Worrell Announces a ONE MILLION DOLLAR Cash Purse for the 2004 Worrell 1000

*Apres Boat Show has Big Boat Multihull Chute Out
Charles Chiodi, Publisher of Multhulls Magazine invited our own Rick White as an observer to a "Shoot Out"of a number of cruiser/racer multihulls. It was light air, but still a very interesting venture. Click Here for the whole story and pictures.

 

*Mitch Booth Takes It All at Hobie Tiger Worlds
If consistent performance is what it's all about, then Mitch and Taylor Booth deserve the title. The father/son team steadily made progress throughout the week to lay claim to a title that was hard fought and well earned. US Sailors Greg Thomas and Jacques Bernier took a solid 2nd spot. *Robbie Daniel/Eric Jacobsen Dethrone Gold Medalests in Olympic Pre-Trial
Against some of the world's best Tornado Sailors the U.S. Team from Clearwater, FL sailed so well in this regatta that they were able to sit out the last race and still win. It was a huge breakthrough.

*A-Class Olympic Regatta Won by Ben Hall in Tie with Goran Marstrom
Ben Hall took bullets in the first three races but faltered in mid regatta while Goran Marstrom kicked it into second gear. In athe light air of Sunday Hall floundered and then it got it back to break the tie wiht Marstraom. Click here for stories and results!

*NAMSA Nationals/Tradewinds Open Cat Midwinter Nationals Hit with Cold Weather, but Great Winds
It was great wind for this annual mega regatta but the a blast of Canadian air sent temperatures plunging to record lows. Still in all it was great racing. Click here for stories and results


*Wave National Series Lead Changes after Houston Regatta
In cold and windy conditions Rick White took the lead and Pegi Villa moved into 3rd place overall for the Wave National Series Championships. Stan Woodruff slipped to second place but stands a good chance of winning overall as the upcoming Nationals in December will count as two races, and Woodruff has been a top contender in that event.

*5th Annual Wave National Championships Coming in a Few Weeks
This popular event is coming Dec 6-8 and will have gorgeous trophies for Open, Women, Masters and Youth. Join in for the entire Wave Week, which includes a Rick White's Sailing Seminars, practice racing on Thursday, and the Nationals on Friday through Sunday. Click here for NORs!
