So they're just attachments for connecting to the chicken line, that aren't hooks. ok, cool.
Hooks are bad on boats where bodies are likely to be flung around. Climbing-style Carabiners (sp?) are easier to use but they will slap the hull potentially leaving damage. The system that we use takes a little getting used to, but once you are used to it, getting clicked in is pretty easy. The bozo-ball anti-whoopsie arrangement is a David Lennard creation.
