But why did the U.S. system change?
It just makes so much more sense to be able to join a club or organization that belongs to US Sailing and thereby become a member of US Sailing. My membership card to our yacht club used to say right on it that this club is a member of USYRU. And, therefore, I could show my membership card at any other club or organization that belonged to USYRU, and I would be welcomed at that club.
