The 2 M20's in the race, which finished 2nd and 3rd, were an interesting test of the curved boards versus straight boards. From what I could see looking back at them, there did not seem to be much difference in speed between the two set ups. Talking with them back at the club, they didn't seem to think the results were due to the boards. Mike Phillips M20 with the curved boards chose to sail a shorter course over the shallows, while Bret with the straight boards stayed in deeper water sailing a longer distance. One race with one set of conditions can't tell us the whole story. Hopefully Mike and Bret can do more heads up racing/testing and come to some conclusions. Interesting times!
