Darryl,

I have been trying to find someone to build me some Carbon beams for my mutant Taipan 5.7, it is bloody hard to even find anyone with the required tooling and when I have found them the costs have been well in excess of $1000 for the set, in fact they are around that much for each of them (as blank sections) If you can get them cheaper then I would be very interested in hearing from you.
As for not much gain in stiffness by glueing the beams in I can confirm that the single biggest factor in platform stiffness (apart from having a basicaly good beam design) is the quality of the beam mounting to the hull, this is best demonstrated by the difference in Tornado platform stiffness. A Reg White boat that has Marstrom Beams fitted is no where near as stiff as a Marstrom boat with the same beams fitted. The only difference is the beam lands and the structure around the beams. builders are better to spend their time developing this area than anything else.
