My impression of this (translated to English) wording is that he is being a bit sarcastic...they seem to heavily favor Cuben, but cannot use it due to class rules (F18 & T...cost), so, they are left with the inferior choices of Pentex & Dacron.
Of course, if the translation was a little bit off, the real intent could have been completely lost.
