I hope I am not out of line with this unsubstantiated gossip...I just got a preview of an upcoming press release from Vectorworks that begins:

“Vectorworks Marine Inc. is very proud to announce that G-Cat Catamarans has chosen us to be the builder of their renewed line of beach catamarans...VMI’s design team has taken the task of modifying Hans Geissler’s prototype craft to make it conform to the relatively new but fast growing F16 formula. The first of these boats will be undergoing testing this summer.”

In a beachside chat with Hans he told me that VMI will be re-configuring his G-Cat 5.0 Turbo to meet the F16 box rules. It will have a Taipan wingmast, carry a snuffed spinnaker instead of the previous configuration of a furling reacher, and should weigh in at 235 pounds (~107 kg). He plans to use a VM Blade as a sparring partner for tuning his new G-Cat. Should be a great show!
