I have just measured one of my son's sails that was dripping water onto the hall carpet as he dries it over the upstairs bannisters! There are 3 patches mounted on the center-line of the sail; From the middle of the foot to the bottom patch is 1050mm from the bottom patch to the center one is 2350mm middle to top patch is 2350mm that leaves 1720mm top patch to head of sail.
there are various patches; A grommet through the sail A webbing loop stitched to the sail A plastic or s/steel ring stitched to the sail
Either way, it will need a reinforcing patch the size of a stretched out hand a couple of layers thick
Have fun with the third sail, i was sure that the spinny would not work on the 16 but I was totally wrong. the guys sail them hot downwind just like an f18, in strong winds too.
