The Gulfport event is basically in Tampa, which is about a 6 hour drive to Pensacola, the Midwinters site. Check it out on the Google Earth site, you can scope in on the west coast/panhandle of Florida and get an idea. I always wondered why there isn't a distance race from Tampa to P'cola but there is really nowhere to pull in, if you need help.

Traditionally, this had always been the Pensacola Midwinters weekend, but with the hurricanes the past couple years Kirk has had his hands full. However Key Sailing is back on its feet again and Kirk is working hard to get things moving again in that area.

In the meantime, the F16/ACat event grew in Gulfport, mainly because there was a pocket of F16s and A-Cats there.

This hopefully is a one time issue which will get worked out next year.
