Posts: 902 Norman,OK | Yeah, that isn't cool, looks like I have some looking to do also, but I am pretty sure my bulkheads look different than those do.

Posts: 2,921 Michigan | i think it is a good idea to take internal digital pics. not like it costs anything. Even if it is only to understand a little more about the internal workings. That thread really tells you you need to keep an eye in the innards, esp on older boats.

Posts: 757 japan | not too sure but i assume those are australian made nacras and the bulkheads may be different on usa made ones. esp as it seems there were 3 different bulkhead types used over there
i,ll try and post some of the pics i find of my 1982 hulls so we can get an idea of what differences there are. the more different years we can get the better

Posts: 757 japan | i wouldn't kick yourself too hard airborne, from the look of your pics your hull failed just forward of a solid bulkhead don't think a digicam down the inspection ports could have picked up any signs of impending doom eric e

The stringers in front of the bulkhead on the outboard side must have been delamed. The reason I say this just under the stringer flange was dirty like it has been seperated for a while. If you look under other stringers the flange is clean like it just became delamed. airborne

Posts: 757 japan | which makes me wonder how difficult it would be to lift those decks for an inspection, as the aussies did to repair the 5.8
maybe i'll just have a careful feel/flex around first

Posts: 72 Rockledge Cay, FL | 3 years ago I reworked the interior of both my 5.2 hulls; in front of and behind the front cross beam. Delamination of the stringers is quite common in boats of that age. I reinforced all stringers and installed 3 bulkheads in each hull in front of the forward cross beam. In addition I installed bulkheads immediately infront of and behind the dagger board wells. The decks were easily removed, a lot easier than my P19 was. In the end I added about 6 lbs per hull.
