LOL, that was last years Steeplechase, not only was it windy as fuk, the current must have been over 5kts. Im on one of those N20s paddling my butt off to get through. It was crazy!

That is a great video! I really enjoyed it. Facinating for so many reasons. Most impressive was the lack of chaos. I fully expected a log jam but it is a testiment to the skill of the crews. I don't know if that was just heading out to the course but if so everyone would be fully wired and tired by kick off.
You say it and you have no idea! By the time we got to the starting line I was dead beat tired. Considering the winds were steady 20+kts and the forecast was for a band to come down onto us with gust into the higher 40kts.
We called it quits and I am glad we did. Just listening to the stories made me quiver. It was our first time racing together so we decided to head back to the beach and not race. Even the crews that were together for a while had issues.

I know there is good footage make at the Global Challenge, so why has any of these files been publized yet ?
Because editing video footage takes a lot of time, something I do not have a lot of at the moment. If anyone else wishes to edit down around 8GB of video footage into something worth publishing, I will very happily send them a DVD with it on.
I know a professional video-photographer/editor who would love to get into this. He is going for a Blade F-16 the coming spring, so he would like to spread the word. If we could download the raw footage I could get him going on it. Bandwith is no problem on this end..
I've started it uploading, but it's going to take a very long time. It may have to wait until I'm next in the data centre and can upload it over gigabit ethernet.
I'd love to see this stuff edited down by someone who knows what they're doing.
Here's a very basic edit of some of Phills footage (6MB). Video
You see Gill/Kathleen, Paul/Ann and Hans. Then forward to Matt/Bart. And it ends with Paul/Ann and Gill/Kathleen catching up with Matt.
At 200% the video is not sharp, but you see the boats better. At 100% the image is sharper and it looks faster. For those at work: there is sound (Phill and Greg commenting on the race).
I also have a short edit where Wouter is in the middle of the attention, but I don't seem to get it to upload.
You guys have some good speed going on there ! Good video.

Ohh, God !
The Global Challenge was NOT my finest hour.
Want me to upload that video to my webpage ?
It is always fun to see a vocal poster like myself get slacked on by a bunch of Aussies, especially with a guy like Greg in the mix !
By the way Kathleen, can I have those video file as well ? I'm still seem to be the unofficial archiver of the F16 class concerning pics and video's. I would like to keep this video for future usage.
