Rolf, I have not seen the IR system in the hellicopter up close, so I don't know what they are using. It's supposed to be able to "see" heat (warm bodies) in the dark. I fly for the fun of going low and slow, which is the exact opposite of my -other- job.
If I had to chose one over the other, flying low and slow is much more fun than high and fast. Sort of like sailing an F16 vs. riding on a cruise ship.
