Wouter You goose, there are a lot of old RSA boats there and the AVERAGE of the whole fleet is 1kg over F18 min weight. Which is markedly different from the F16 fleet which averages 5kg over. Further: as a % of total boat weight the F16 average overweight is much more. I would suggest that most of the new boats in the fleet are carrying corrector weights. But carry on, its still funny... not | | | Re: Hobie Tiger Worlds reporting.

OHHHH ! The real world is merciless ! Is my dear friend reading this ? I rest my case. Wouter Wouter: The results are somewhat skewed though. For instance, we just came from the water when we got weighted (189kg ) there was probably at least 1 or 2 liters of water in the hulls and our spin and lines where still wet. Some of the boats are quite old (2000ish)so maybe they weigh a bit more. The boats that are below the min. weight (180kgs) are required to wear lead for compensation. | | | Re: Hobie Tiger Worlds reporting.

And we're sure glad he transplanted to our area.
Chris, did you charter, or ship your Tiger?

Posts: 606 League City, TX | Flumpmaster: Think I saw you on the water today, do you also have a british accent? Yep, we were out there today. White sails with a big blue TCDYC logo. That last race today was fun - full on nuclear conditions and very reminiscent of the first day of the 2005 Tiger Worlds in Santa Barbara. Chris. | | | Re: Hobie Tiger Worlds reporting.

Someone had been making claims of F18 being typically 5 kg underweight.
Sounds like stretch to me to blame water in the hulls for a 189 - 175 = 13 kg weight difference.
Apart from that everything else is the same as the data taken at the GC 2007 but in that case that special someone claimed that the producers were to blame.
I guess the water at Zandvoort is alot less dense then in South Africa!

Thanks

Thanks I'll take a pen and paper down to the party this evening and make some notes. Todays racing was excellent. Many general recalls which was good for us as my start certainly need some work. Jesse and I both went swimming today. He on a downwind run (I doused and sailed back for him), and me after the last race when my trap line bust. We got some up close free lessons from Mark Laruffa and the other top dogs today. It was amazing to watch how smooth and fast the top dogs are. Chris. | | | Re: Hobie Tiger Worlds reporting.

We're all on edge wating for your posts and documentary. And you're always so politically correct:
'Lots of variation in weight and a couple of mixed crews in the top 6, showing that the Hobie Tiger produces great one design racing without being particularly weight or gender sensitive.'
Well said, and yes, the Tigers' a great boat.

Wouter, there is a big difference between OLD boats that WERE BUILT UNDER MIN WEIGHT now over min weight many years later, than new F16s that MANUFATCURES CAN NOT PRODUCE UNDERWEIGHT NEW. At the 07 Worlds, most boats were under min weight and carried correctors. There were some very old boats where the owners also were not concerned with rigging lightly, that were over weight. My Capricorn weighs in at 175.3 kg and I carry 4.7 kg lead (5kg max allowed in F18 class rules). Most Capricorns vary between 175 and 177 kg. Tigers and Nacras are about the same.
