So.... IF one were interested in purchasing an F16, where do you get one? I couldn't find anything on the Vectorworks Marine website, but I am prone to being blind. How many manufacturers are there? Who sells em'?
Being that the dollar is taking it in the brown eye, U.S. built is probably the only option.

Settle down, I'm just curious. If this FXone thing doesn't pan out I may be looking for a different ride. Or I'll just race what I have on PN handicap, which will probably happen anyway.

I'm boatless.

Talk to Matt McDonald who checks in here on a regular basis. He's The Man at Vectorworks for Blades and A cats. If you are looking for a Viper, there is a link at the top of this page.

go here, it is at the vectorworks sail site.
http://vectorworkssail.com/f16.html

send an email to matt, you can find his email on the site.

as far as I know, the Blade from VWM is the only US made one. There is the AHPC viper from Aus and the dynatique (sp) in europe and several in england.

Wait...Doesn't that make your FX worth MORE on the second hand market? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Welcome! First chance you get, come on down to GYC. We race the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Great sites, plenty to do.

See. I that was the exact response I knew I was going to get out of Pete. Don't hold your breath, I really, really like the FXone. Its a very sexy boat and sails very well. I just don't have anyone to race with at this point. If some others come around, or look like they are going to come around I will more than likely hang on to it. But I'm also a pessimist and am always betting on the exact opposite of what I want to happen, happening.

Karl, just FYI, there are two Blades currently in CRAW and there will be three F17s this year, so a pretty good fleet of comparable single-handers. It would be fun to have you sail with us, either on the FX-1 or one of these other classes if you decide to make a change. The Carlsons travel to our events from about an hour north of you (Brent is our Commodore), so it's doable if you're looking for competition.

Dynautic has discontinued the Blade F16 design and announced a new design off their own; the Catch F16. This design is still unseen.

I'm tentivly planning on doing the broken rudder event. There's a Div 7 regatta that weekend as well in Spirit Lake IA.

So, did you regret this thread? Just curious.

BTW, I saw a FX-One in Pcola at Midwinters on the trailer. It was going to be transported back to somewhere in Texas (TeamChums delivery, maybe???). The boat was previously sailed out of Montgomery, AL.

I saw that as I was driving away that day... wondering what was up with it. I thought it was an 18ht for a second.

The response from Pete was exactly what I feared <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'm just exploring options. I love my boat. Its a great ride. If I can't get some more people on the FXone so I have someone to race against OD I will probably just race it on handicap, which means sailing with a totaly different crowd. There really isn't any reason for me to get a different boat. The reason I did get an FXone was that I wanted a singlehand spin boat. I do like OD so I race with the Hobie people. OD in a class of one lacks something. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Ok, so why didn't you get an F17? Just curious since there is a large fleet in your area.

oh sorry I thought you were in WI where there are quite a few..but I think there are a few F17s in your area so why not work with them?

I don't have many people who I would honestly call friends. I started racing with the Hobie people and really enjoy hanging out with them, and I didn't want to ditch them for a different boat. The Nacra 17 came highly recomended by a few people. Everyone who has or has sailed the FXone have really liked it as well. I got all that I wanted except people to race with. I working on changing that, but it takes time and like stated before the rising cost of this boat every single day makes it a bit spendy.
