Posts: 90 South Carolina, USA | Me and Neville were the only uni-F16's...Neville had a commitment on Easter Sunday so he left (of course after the party Saturday night!). ...and glad I did. Scored a nice wet suit and a couple of hats. My raffle tickets were on fire. Unfortunately my sailing was not. I have a lot to learn for the transition to cat sailing. One thing about the class is how helpful everyone was to support me like they did. It was my first time out on the boat and it was an awesome experience. Thanks to all of you that helped me (especially Terry, Oley and Joanna). What a great boat and even better group of people. I have been a mono hull sailor for decades and the people are nowhere near as nice or fun to party with. I hope to see you all soon. Cheers, Neville | | | Re: Spring Fever

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | I don't know about down here in laid back Florida, but when I used to race mono's in New England, most classes were a little -snooty- about talking to other classes. Some of the "rock stars" in the J-24 class wouldn't give a weekend hack the time of day either, that is, unless you wanted to buy their used sails...They were too cool to talk to a wanker. But don't take my word for it, just log onto Sailing Anarchy for a good dose of mono racer head-up-assness...
I've never seen that attitude in cat sailors, except once in a while on this board, but never at a regatta.

Posts: 404 Chattanooga, TN | Just finally got time to sit down and write. First-wanted to thank, Mr. Ernie, Nigel&Tammy, Hank & the RC, and every one else who worked hard to make Spring Fever a GREAT event for yet another year. Meeting Neville, Geoff, and Randy (Thanks for the shirt-I love it!) for the first time and sailing with Terry, Chris and Eric was a hoot. Thanks to Bill and his I17 for pushing us and making us learn a lot. In 5 races we were no more than 45 seconds apart-trading out firsts. One race he DNF'd due to a flip at the mark and one we got headed REALLY badly and finished 6th. Hopefully next year we will have the same 5 F16's and more. It is a regatta not to be missed!!

Early on, Terry, Robi and I got together for a couple of days of tuning: not racing just measuring, discussing and sailing COMPARATIVELY. If you could manage that, even with a boat of another type, it would give you a huge boost. But, coming from monohulls you have a lot to unlearn too. Try to find another cat to practice with, it will really help. | | |
