There's still postponement, but saw some live onboard footage and the T's where double trapping upwind.
Even trapping downwind actually.
I can watch it live here in holland, it probably wont work in AUS due to the curse of DRM but you can try anyway:
http://wm-redirector.omroep.nl/secure/82...008-4-wm-public

The conditions are perfect so i'm puzzled why they are not racing <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

BBC are showing the Stars live as the T's twin wire past them. Hopefully they will then show the T's.

The coverage is the best i've seen so far, lots of different camera angles, helicopters, etc, and the quality is high enough to go full-screen on my TV.
Anyone know what that floating barrier is for? Keeping out the weed?
The stars just finished, SWE took the win.

wind has lightened for the race...8-9knots at the first 4 roundings,

Just caught a glimpse of USA between Star boats. They did NOT have the Chupacabra Code Zero out going up hill in light wind (hull flat). They are back in 12th.
What's that about?!?

Are the different classes sharing a finish line?

Perhaps the wind is stronger than the design limit?

No coverage for me <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Just hoping somebody are taping/downloading this.

It's over. Leader board still hasn't updated finish places...but the live comments show ESP taking the bullet...passed GRE on the last upwind. NED (Booth sans code zero) was third!

CAN in 8th. USA lost two spots on the last leg to end up 14th ahead of ITA in last place.

Winds shown at 9 kts at all roundings.

Off to bed!

I have not even found a pay site where I can watch the Tornado racing today. That is simply not good enough in 2008 for an event like the olympics.
BBC have a feed from the sailing, but I have been unable to tap into it, even not through our firewall in the UK.

The stream just stopped here also, it was scheduled between 7:00 till 12:45.
If I had more time I would set up a proxy server at our datacenter for you guys.

It is the tought that counts, isnt it <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
(dont think that would be legal, so it would probably not be a good idea. Copying between friends on the other hand is usually legal in many countries)

looked like a good day for the code 0. I just saw one shot of the US team dead in the water upwind without it.

Where can I get one of those Stars, thats where its at.

Yes, for those not getting the feed...you're not missing much really. The coverage was the Star race...100% of the time. Occassionally you could catch a glimpse of the Tornado or two slicing throug the fleet. I had the rounding & results web page on screen beside the viddy to try to follow the actual T boat race. Without that, it would have been not worht looking at the Stars bobbing about.

Here's the link (but right now theres no data coming up for some reason):

Probably the cameras can't keep up with the speed of the Tornados... thats why they follow the slower Stars. Maybe, kinda, sorta!

Glancing through the replay video on NBCs webpage it is pretty neat to see the Tornado's speed compared to the Stars. Downwind the Star's crew stands facing backward on the foredeck. The Tornado crew were on the leeward side but the speed difference was large. Seemed as though the Tornado had to use the Stars and obstacles. I thought I saw a spinnaker going to weather but cannot be sure. As the wind builds they obviously cannot use it but I thought that in the early part of the race there was one...hope against hope, maybe.

If you are a Star sailor you should video the race. There were some nice close shots of crew work. I hope that they choose the Tornado for at least one race coverage with the same detail, it will be good to have for training video with some editing.

Later,
Dan

I'm watching the BBC coverage again of the Star's and I get the feeling that every time there was a T in the picture they zoomed in on the Star's <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

According to Gary Jobson, the Sopwith Camel helped win the Battle of Britain.

I think that shows a basic lack of understanding between the Cat world and the leaners.
