Simon,

Yes we're all a bit slack with our visits. blush

It's probably because we have a Mozzie fest every weekend. grin The problems begin to show up when we get into different wave patterns that we don't encounter on Westernport Bay. cry

What happened to to Guru Gary ? I see from the results that he didn't finish race No. 1 then didn't compete for the rest of the series. eek Was it gear failure or a collision ?

Oh and what was Andrew Neeson's "special" award ?

Regards,

Peter

p.s. Mozzies at Safety Beach; I'd love to see that !! cool

Saftey Beach is great place to sail a mossie when should we go over as a fleet for a visit?
Do they have a short course series, or a regatta that we could get to?
In the past they have run a regatta that clashes with the Nationals, is there any other?

Hi Peter,

200m from the finish of the first race, tight reaching 2 on trapeze depowering sails, travelling flat out. The leeward centreboard blew up, leaving us cartwheeling over the bits that where still attached to the boat. BUGGER mad Shortest regatta I have ever sailed. My McCrae hoodoo continues. cry

So isn't anyone going to tell us what happened?

How did Peter manage to get the better of Mick? What did the other classes say about the Mosquito handicap (although I can't see any problem with the results)? How did Mick end up with two 31st places? What did Andrew do right for the first half of the regatta? What happened to the rest of you? Why did no-one fly a spinnaker?
These are important questions. Why are we being kept in the dark? frown

If you had been there you would have known!

OK on the first day of racing the breeze was in Mick and Sarah's favour and they sailed well to be well ahead of the fleet through most of the races, only Peter and Gordan were able to stay close.
Day two was a light breeze that died out through out the day, this seemed to suit Peter as he led the races by a large margin.
As you can see by the results our handicap is good in a breeze but in the light stuff were a bit behind.

Andrew sailed well getting a good start in the races on the first day and looked to be in a good position until the first race of the second day, when he decided to put the buoy between the bows of his boat and had to do a penalty turn (he didn't sink the buoy but did get an award for this), after this his concentration may have slipped off a bit.
What happened to the rest of us, well we were beaten by the better sailors in Mick and Sarah, Peter.
No kites don't know don't have one, but believe it was good practice for the national titles, and the course didn't suit the kites.
hope this answers some of your questions and get you out of the dark and into a grey area.

Thanks Rob,

I was struggling to put together an informative report.

You don't get quite the same perspective from the a*se end of the fleet. blush

Cheers

I am interested to know if others agree with this. I sailed the winter series at Sugarloaf in light winds (0-6 knots) and was consistantly at the back of the fleet. The first few races of the summer series have had 10-12 knots of breeze and I am now placing at the front of the fleet (we will see for how long).
