Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | Robi, No, but you can go back to your own forum and answer it there. But I won't be there to read it so you can tell me in person tomorrow, when I'm talking to Seth and Steph...

Posts: 3,348 | Another great day on the water! Eight A cats, five F16s, one Dart, one F18. Moderate winds 8-10 knots, frequent gusts to 15. Same typical, swirling conditions. Flat water, bright sun and a few clouds.
Jennifer Lindsey and Fred Metcalf,F18(Capricorn, I think) smoked the fleet in the second race, finishing minutes ahead of the nearest contender. The rest of the day was much closer. Results will be up in a day or so. Gordon Isco made a good showing, fourth overall (I think). The gusts were heavy enough he could have easily been overpowered.
Spoke with Robbie Daniel briefly; he has four new Vipers on the way. Sadly, none of them are staying in Gulfport.
Dinner was pizza and salad, brew and soft drinks. Surprise of the day was Rush Bird's political essay. Rush the firebrand! Who knew!? All parted friends. A great day all around.

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | And thanks for doing that Robi. Great to get over there again, I will try to make as many more as possible, they said if we can get a good turnout this winter they will run races for us, they normally shut down in Jan-Feb.
Good to see Pete back on the water, Terry, get over there when you can! Seth and I had a good Uni fight going, until I decided I needed a swim, which as we know, is slow...

Posts: 2,718 St Petersburg FL | I'm pretty sure Gordon would be in favor. There was some talk last Spring about a Winter series.
You're a local now, wanna check it out? I am not quite a local anymore, im living roughly 30 miles away so I do not make my way out to the club as often as I would like. That plus my crazy winter schedule I will be all over the americas. But if I am in town and there is racing I will most likely be there. | | | Re: GYC Club racing

Posts: 439 Memphis, TN | I have a quick question. You guys do these races using portsmouth or do it boat for boat? In reality, I wouldn't think that it mattered right? All of those boats have portsmouth ratings of being VERY close. Just curious. It looks like it would be fun either way, especially the starts!! Club racing with 15 boats is REALLY good!! . Mike

Posts: 6,049 Sebring, Florida. | We race on P numbers corrected.
At the start of the 3rd race there was one boat over early, but due to the volume of the call out, nobody was -sure- if he yelled General Recall or what number, and he only said it once. To me it sounded like General Recall, but I was close to the comm. boat, and I know most of the other boats on down the line couldn't hear it either. So, most of the fleet sailed on for about 2-3 minutes, then turned around and went back for a re-start, I know I did.
But I was in no hurry as half the fleet was still sailing on, while half was headded back to the start area. I sailed over to the Com. boat to ask when the next start would be, and Robi said, "It was just one boat..."
SH!T!! By now, just about all the fleet is either at the Com. boat or halfway back to the com. boat, when finally everyone figured out we should all be racing! So it was a very messed up start and first leg.
I think your Dart boat may have never came back, but just kept going, so in effect, the fleet spotted him about 5 minutes or so.
I don't know if he tried to come back or not. There were lots of holes by then as the wind was getting lighter and lighter as the day wore on.
