Same thing here - i had a nice comfortable path around and had a "run aground" message...my boat was moving again when i saw that so I figured it moved me back to the west again .... goofy.

Who did you guys vote for to win this leg? I voted for Team Puma, who did a horizon job right after the start (check the SA frontpage).
I just lost an insane amount of places though.

I voted for Puma too. Not for any real reason though. It's always sweet when you bring up the VOR page, and your boat is trucking along at 1.6kn. Happened tonight, sweet.....

Ok, I joined yesterday "wlrottge" if anyone wonders who added them to their friends list. Also joined the group, this looks like fun.

For those that are playing and can't connect from work and have a WM PDA, skyfire will allow you to play somewhat. It's kind of unweildy but it can be done. I've made course adjustments but can't really look at the map much... just FYI

I took a disheartening drop from 32,000th place to 64,000th place this morning. Pretty frustrating...I'm sure the places will start clicking back off as I have now turned north. Hopefully getting a big bite into the low won't kill me.

My mistake I had been accepted, my boat is called Warob, currently lying 19,687th !!

What can you do with a group?

OK...I've about had enough. Over the course of 10 minutes, I reportedly lost 25,000 positions and my VMG is about maxed out right at the finish for the moment. That's BS.

Dont look at the scoreboard too much, just try to overtake the boats in front one at a time.
Now in 390th position and quite pleased, the path to crossing the Tropic of Capricorn will be interesting.
IMHO the front pack is too far west so I hope to catch up to them within a few days or so.
It also helps to keep an eye on the polar diagram whenever the wind changes in strength.

Don't let it worry you; remember the game only refreshes every 20 mins and so some funny things happen if you are on a similar course to others and have just made a course change.

I screwed up a couple of days ago and I am now waaaay south; I had to re-plan my route and I am now finally heading north-ish.

I'm just having fun this leg and banging a corner!

Yes, I believe the ones that are marked on the charts you see in the game do come into effect.
