Ft. Pierce is costing me a long weekend with the in-laws. (don't ask) So far, we've got a Hobie 20 and a couple of N-20s signed up. Get on the horn and get some people riled up about this event!

It's our chance to show our stuff to the sportboat guys.

Here's the place to register: Sailing Anarchy Invitational Regatta

It's not a question of room, it's a question of course management and time.

Right now, the plan is to send all the catamarans to a long weather mark and the two monohull classes to a short weather mark so that everybody finishes at about the same time - that minimizes the wait between races. A G-Cat 5.7 has a 73.4 DPN; the NOR states a max DPN of 65 - that works out to over 5 minutes difference on a 40 minute race. I don't want to have one boat holding up the start of another sequence.

That being said, if you show up and pay your entry fee, we're not going to turn you away. You could end up living large on the signal boat, which right now is a 65' trawler. laugh

If others are planning to attend this, please pre-register. Right now, I am registered and plan to attend. If only two other boats are going to attend, I may pass on the event.

I don't have my rooms reserved or anything yet. I'm not sure my boat will be ready, and likewise, if there are only two other competitors I'll probably not make the long drive down there. Hate to say it too because I'm really looking forward to getting out on the ocean again frown

Where's Krantz? He said he was coming.

Bottom line - if we don't have 15 boats total, then we don't have a regatta.

Get on the horn and rustle up some action!

It's the same weekend as the Viper event in Miami, the same weekend as the Melges 24 event in Atlanta, and the same weekend as my wife's birthday. Which event do you think win's out? I'll give you a hint - she owns a Melges...

I'd really like to understand why it's so hard to get some beach cat sailors to spend 50 bucks on regatta fees and another 70 bucks a night for a room to race in some of the best East Coast conditions possible. We couldn't make this any cheaper if we tried, our PRO is a beach cat sailor, and we'd love to have you guys. What the kiss else do I need to do to get five or ten of you guys here? I can promise some good weed and a case of Mount Gay - will that help? Christ.

And Mike, tell me that there is really some Melges racing going on that weekend - because the entire Charleston fleet is staying here for some short course practice, and I heard a couple of the Georgia boys were thinking of coming down too. Bring your lady to the beach for a fun weekend bro - nothing in Lanier but cold and mud.

March 14th and 15th are the races. Welcome dinner at the FPYC is Friday night, with dirt-cheap drinks and free or almost free food. BBQ on Saturday night at a friend's house on the beach, then my case of rum at the hotel, which is giving a big discount to all entrants. www.docksideinn.com

NOR is up, and Matt has the SI's pretty much done - but this is not the kind of regatta to stand on formality - for kiss's sake, it's the Sailing Anarchy Yacht Club Annual Regatta - the one that makes us legal to challenge for the America's Cup - so COME!
