What are the criteria for successful candidates? near-sighted? aystigmatic? I think I have both...

This is probably a long list...

Tractor w/ 42 inch snowblower attachment. Crazy money spent on this, worth every penny. I only wish I had a bigger one (preferably a John Deere, not a Sears Craftsman).

First new Hobie 16 (BRU Cat) in 1997.

Second new Hobie 16 in 2001.

Third new Hobie 16 in 2006, although this hasn't been used except for hanging Christmas lights since we had Hunter (also in 2006)...

First RV in 2001, 1978 Winnebago (you asked for risky, right?). Think Chitty-Chitty_Bang-Bang, but with no brakes.

Second RV in 2004, 1993 Tioga (MAJOR upgrade to the Winnie!).

Wedding at OceanCliff in Newport, RI in January 2005. I thought my wife was completely insane when she talked me into getting married there, but it was worth every penny and then some. Best party ever.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Mike

I was both nearsighted and had an astigmatism. My lasik surgery last winter fixed both. I couldn't be happier with the results. And yes, my surgeon had it done as well as just about everyone on his staff. Through the whole procedure, I only saw one employee wearing glasses (aside from safety glasses). I asked her about it and I can't remember why, but she was not a candidate for the surgery.

Schedule an initial consult and they will scan your eyes and let you know if you're a candidate. Initial was free and took about an hour.

Nearsightedness and astigmatism can nearly always be corrected, depending on the degree and assuming the eyes are otherwise health. Best be to to get checked by a reputable ophthalmologist with experience in LASIK. You can PM to guidelines.

I considered Lasik, too, but was afraid of it. There are too many stories of failed surgeries around. In the meantime I wear so called "Day & Night"-lenses which remain in the eye for one entire month. This makes me practically normal-sighted, before I had to wear sun-glasses with prescription glasses being able to read my mobile phone in an emergency case. Best sailing-gadget I ever obtained ...

File under "risky," and we'll find out later if it was worth it. Bought a new Capricorn today. crazy

Congrats to the well-respected sailors who bought my boat. I know you're not supposed to get attached, but... she was awfully good to me. Greg promised the new one would be good, too. crazy

Who bought mine? I'll let them speak up if they want to... whistle

Take as many guesses as you like. It isn't Titcomb - he bought an ugly boat about two weeks ago.

Actually, it wasn't titcomb I was thinking about ... but thanks. I went out with JC in Orlando about 2 weeks ago and he told me :P

If I was at Steeplechase, I'd be out of a job right now. But you wouldn't know much about that would ya? You know, not coming to regattas because of "work" :P

Come work with me for a week or two and you won't need that work out equipment or a trainer, Tubby.
Hope you and JC had a nice time.Did he give you a ride home or call you a cab?

p.s. With that kite it looks like you'd have Ronald McDonald crewing for ya, McTad.
