Now what about those rivets?

The car in question is the car that slides up and down the track used for moving the leads fore and aft.

yes, but you stated you shackle the block to that... the block sits under the jib block system...

I would really love to understand your system.. but without a picture or more detail.. i do not get it...

thank you

Robbie, You should come up here. We are camping this weekend on snake island. Andrew is too.

Bowers we miss you over here, or at least I do grin

Andrew does the term "beat it to death" mean anything?? grin Bring the line and I'll bring my fid and we'll set you up this weekend.

Mike,
I miss the trips to Dunedin but I'm now living beachside with the boat on the beach about 100 yards from the house so I'm kind of spoiled. I was very sorry to hear about Smitty and Rocco. I would have been over last weekend for the memorial but I was up north.
Keep in touch.
Jeff

I am sorry i do not follow at all.

You are shackling to the car on the tracks? doesn't this remove the ability to have the blocks come inboard?

I actually have a small block with a becket currently... but don't understand your method.... please elaborate.. or show a pic.

thank you,

He's not attaching the jib blocks to the cars.
He's attaching the traveler line to the becket instead of the car. Then after the splices are attached to the beckets you attach the small blocks to the car with a small shackle. You can use a longer shackle first and after the line settles in switch to a shorter shackle.

You gain adjustability of the traveler line by changing the shackle on either side. Does the light flicker now??? grin

Smitty's memorial was very nice. lots of friends and family (30 or so) joined up on the beach... had about a 45 min service and then about 10 cats sailed out the pass to spread his ashes (in 20mph wind).

I think thats how i want to go out... now all i have to do is make 30 friends....
