I don't know what is going on. At least on my computer, the forum looks totally different. Maybe the server was working on the attachments problem and weirded out the whole thing. I'll call him Monday.

Yes, very weird. If you go to "My Home" the "Favorite Forums" list is missing. There is no easy way to jump to other forums without seeing the total list.

I found out what happened. Our provider was supposed to install the latest upgrade of this forum a couple weeks ago and just got around to doing it this weekend. That's why it looks a little different and has a few new and different features.

I know the upgrade was supposed to have some way for the forum administrator to toggle off the ratings feature for threads and/or for posters, so I will have Rick check on that when he gets back to town.

The attachments feature is working again. It is set right now to upload files with the following extensions: .txt, .jpg, .gif, but the provider says if you guys need capability of using other extensions, he can add them.

Please feel free to express your opinions about this upgraded forum version.

I already noticed one thing that makes it confusing to follow the thread properly: In a reply post, it does not say who the post is replying to. Maybe that is what that new "Quote" feature is for?? In a reply are we now supposed to include a quote (like the first few words) from the post we are replying to?

And what is that number that is shown underneath the subject line in each post?

(I'm just trying to accumulate questions to ask the software designers of the forum, because I'm sure Rick won't know the answers, either.)

Mary,

I find the new colors on the "unread posts" very difficult to read. Dark red on a dark background is tough to read even if you aren't color blind, up to 10 percent of white males have some red-green color blindness.

Please add this to your list. ;-)

Maybe it have something to do with all of the UFO sightings over Key West? I think there is some connection between Rick's Place and "The Greys"

Damon,
That is the NUMBER ONE thing on my list of complaints. I can't stand that bright color blazing out at me. And it is really hard to make it go away. And it is so totally redundant. The most recent posts and the posts replied to are all up at the top anyway, and they all have the number of unread replies right there in parentheses. What are they going to do in the next upgrade? Add blaring trumpets on our speakers?

I have to agree with the criticisms of the colours. Not pretty and hard to read. The previous incarnation looked far better.

I'd also like to see the rating system for threads and posters removed.

Rob.

I've just been to 'My Home' and in the preferences you can choose the 'skin' used to display the forum. There are 9 to choose from. Some are much better than the default. 'Infopop' is very easy to read. 'Wild' is very scarey.

Rob,
Thanks for the tip about changing the colors in the "My Home" page. Infopop is much easier on the eyes. It looks like most of their color schemes were designed by a group of first-graders hyped up on sugar??
