My new/old Hobie 16 hs a beat-up mast socket. I contemplated taking it off & getting it welded to restore its ears (on each side of the socket). However, how do you get it off the front crossbar? Is there an aluminum insert inside the crossbar that holds the dolphin striker rod?
Remove the dolphin striker rod- ain't working.
Drilled out the pop rivets- base ain't loose.
Now what-- please help.
