Posts: 699 SE Pa. or Chesapeak Bay | ANNOUNCEMENT ... ANNOUNCEMENT .... ANNOUNCEMENT
THE F16s HAVE MADE CLASS!!!!
RHYC is proud to announce that for the first time on the Chesapeake Bay the F16 Class has done it. There are (5) F16's registered/committed to attending the RHYC ANNUAL One-Design event. RHYC is pleased for the F16 class and hope this is the beginning of a long and successful life of sailing/racing for the F16s on the Chesapeake. Oh, one problem, does anyone have a F16 CLASS FLAG, that we can borrow for the start????
H14s MAKE CLASS AFTER A .......
They are BACK!!!! after a +20year absence of racing on the Chesapeake Bay RHYC is also happy to announce that the H14 has offically "MADE CLASS" w/ the registration of Mr Bill Kast this morning. This was possible through the support of Div11 and the HCA-NA.
So RHYC is happy for the "New class on the BAY" .... and the Grandfather class of beach cat classes!!!!!
Happy sailing and Racing

Posts: 2,921 Michigan | Do the other classes that "MADE IT" get appreciation threads too? I suppose they should if it is their first time making a class or returning after a long absence. people seem so edgy around here these days....

Posts: 3,116 Annapolis, MD | A class has made class at Rock Hall for years... We are the standard to beat for this regatta! We are working on breaking 15 boats this weekend, (14 now) (Now the H16's have a shot at beating the A cats in their Hobie Points regatta at Rock Hall in September).
Cats should be about 1/3 of the racing sailors this weekend. That turnout get's you noticed!
Rock Hall is 2 hours from Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and the New Jersey Shore... The regatta is convenient to a lot of sailors. Free camping, a pool, cheap bar and restaurant cover all the bases when coupled with the clubs commitment to support small boat racing with great RC work and hospitality.

Unregistered | my point was to see if any other of the classes had made it there, and I see that the A classes have - yet I don't see an appreciation thread for them.

Do the West River N20's move around much?
I've put it on my schedule that I am doing the Annapolis -> Oxford race this year. I know there are two of them, I want to do the one where the beach cats show up.... whichever one that is. I'd expect ANY class making it the first time would get a big announcement. Those fleets get 15, 30 or more boats can sit smugly knmowing they are "where it's at".

Posts: 954 Mumbles Y.C Wales U.K | Harry Thanks for the thread it's always nice to hear good things about Cat Sailing. If a F16 Class Flag isn't available could I suggest adopting the Y-Yankee flag. The Y Flag is made up of yellow and red stripes which is similar to the Spanish Flag. A Spanish explorer was the first European to discover The Chesapeake Bay in 1525. Also, The Chesapeake Bay was the venue for a Naval Battle where the French defeated the British Navy during the American Revolution in 1781. British Officers nick named American soldiers Yankee doodle dandy's due to their extravagant uniforms. I hope you get where I'm coming from. Anyway, it was just a suggestion!! and I hope you have a great regatta.

Posts: 396 Annapolis Md. | Harry. Thanks for your shameless promotion of the class and all of your help with the regatta! I have a class flag being made up by a local artist. It's nothing official but should get us through the weekend. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IMAGE FILE FOR THE F-16 LOGO? We can get by without it but it would help. sEE yA. eD

Posts: 396 Annapolis Md. | Mark. Thanks for the suggestion. For this weekend we're getting whatever the sailmaker has in vivid colored scraps but you've brought up some interesting stuff for a follow on. Ed

Both Robi and the F16 class (Governing Council) have these.
Ask either one of them.

Not a good idea, since the Y flag has a defined use under the RRS (Wear personal flotation). 40 PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES When flag Y is displayed with one sound before or with the warning signal, competitors shall wear personal flotation devices, except briefly while changing or adjusting clothing or personal equipment. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. To avoid confusing competitors and lacking a specific F16 flag, use a unique color flag (pink, brown, green, etc.) or one of the number pennants. Code flag zero has red / yellow vertical stripes. | | |
