There was also the Polish built Exploder which has been competing at Texel for a few years, not sure how much it costs but since their F18 goes for €11K it cant be as much as an M20 or similar.

Considering that you can purchase an F18 in the states for around $15k (10.8k Euro), $35,000 (25k Euro) is not affordable.

Any one you want; just not brand new.

Also the fact that there ISN'T an F20 class pushes the price up. It could be argued that F18 prices remain lower than the 20's because of competition from the other F18 models.

yes but we are comparing this to a "NEW" boat cost, aren't we?
(40,000 CHD?? That's like $36,800USD!!!)

I thought the Infusion was still around $14.5k...no? (it's been a little while since I bought a new boat).

I think the Infusion price went up when the Tiger price went up. Somewhere in the ballpark of 18-22k..

Did you guys see the new yacht of russian billionaire Abramovich?
http://yachts.monacoeye.com/files/blohm_voss_eclipse.php

Its value is estimated at around $500m! The recession doesnt seem to affect some people.
[Linked Image]

As a bit of market research: How much would you pay for a 20 footer?
And why would you want one? (Handicap racer?, line-honours winner?).

just under $20k. I want one because I love sailing a 20' boat and it gives bigger teams an option.

I really don't like making a "car payment" on a cat, but Jake's number seems reasonable.

I've still never gotten a ride on a 20 footer, but I did have a chance to watch Team Loewen this weekend. They seem to have their ground school down pat and weren't struggling at all.

We had one short encounter with them under spinnaker, and they were able to pull away without any effort. So, the strength of the bigger more powerful boat is beginning to sink in for me. Still, I wouldn't want to try to single hand one. smile

$20k (€14k) would rule out any european cats (€14k would probably get you a 2nd hand Tiger '08).

The closest thing I know is this 2nd hand M20 at €16.5 ($23k):

No, but you just have to find someone nutty enough to sail it accross...

They may have gone up but I really don't think the Infusions are in that range. I got mine last year brand new for 15.5k and I've seen recent quotes at 17.5k (US). You can also get a lightly used Infusion for much less.
