outer amas completely redone - new bows, sterns extended (or rear beam moved forward). Sprit arrangement has been reworked and the center hull rudder appears to be missing. The center hull itself may have seen some rework / lightening...not sure on that part yet.

That doesn't look ANYTHING like the original boat. I'd venture to say that that thing is BUTT UGLY.

Heh? It's almost the same as the original boat. Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that I guess.

What we don't know is if there is a second BMWO boat somewhere under construction (I believe it to be likely). I think it makes more sense to see a trimaran in a relatively square configuration as opposed to a catamaran.

I donno Jake, that boat is really different IMO. I don't know whether its the pictures that kiss it up or what - but those amas just look like they don't belong with that center hull.

A matter of opinion I suppose.

FWIW I loved the original DZ's looks.

Sure looks fragile! shocked What wind ranges will they be sailing in?

It is the opposite: the center hull is too short and shallow for the amas. maybe we should think of it as a streamlined central reinforcement strut.

Bingo. I bet they intend to be on one hull as much as possible.

Just to be clear: if they ask, you ARE willing to go out on a test ride?

Wow where have you been?

Giant Tri vs. Giant Cat. Well, at least thats the way it looks now. Could change tomorrow.

Seems like the Tri would have a unfair advantage? Are is is just me? Kind of like when Connor had the cat against the mono.

Ok, for all the engineers in the crowd, who will out-point who going upwind?

Cat or Tri?

And who will out-speed who going downwind?

Speculate away!

outside of the sheer awesomeness (damn near blinding) of these boats I think it will be completely lopsided and one will walk away from the other. Maybe one will dominate upwind and the other down so it will even things out. It ain't gonna be close I don't think.
I think the fastest downwind is who has the bigger balls to push it.

Oracle advantage is over 5 knots of wind. Alinghi advantage is under 5 knots of wind.
