My year old Foretrex 201 has become confused. It's stuck trying to acquire the signal, and doesn't respond to any of the buttons. Can't even turn it off. Charged it all night, to no effect. Ran the battery out completely today, now it's on the charger, and not displaying the usual "battery charging" message.
Anyone experienced anything similar? Can't see a reset button.

Dave

yep, i've been there. they aren't the most robust unit out there. i have one doing the same thing. you can send it to garmin and for 69 bucks they will either fix it or send you a refurbished unit. good luck!

Long shot but worth a try . . .
If the buttons will respond, reset the Foretrex by holding down GOTO while pressing the power for several seconds. If prompted whether all user data should be erased at this point, answer yes. Then install the latest firmware, even if it's already installed. If that doesn't work call CS at Garmin. My bet is they will replace it free if you are close to one year.

Thanks guys, it still acquires the signal, but doesn't respond to the buttons. I'll call Garmin.
