Posts: 267 Ocean Springs, MS | yep, i've been there. they aren't the most robust unit out there. i have one doing the same thing. you can send it to garmin and for 69 bucks they will either fix it or send you a refurbished unit. good luck!

Posts: 2,490 On the Water | Long shot but worth a try . . . If the buttons will respond, reset the Foretrex by holding down GOTO while pressing the power for several seconds. If prompted whether all user data should be erased at this point, answer yes. Then install the latest firmware, even if it's already installed. If that doesn't work call CS at Garmin. My bet is they will replace it free if you are close to one year.
