Posts: 1,200 Vancouver, BC | so I guess this release of air was actually a good thing then. The horribly made point made here is that that little bit of pressure really didn't matter - it wasn't enough to affect anything. Because us Tornado sailors are always chasing the ulitmate performance, we keep our mast interiors at full vacuum...no need to ship those extra gas molecules around the race course!

Posts: 117 Atlanta, GA | I guess that means that means you Tornado types are big on farting contests too then? Only through key holes, for max velocity.

Why not inflate them with helium for a little extra lift? Nope...Myth Busters tested that...Helium or Hydrogen filled football doesn't throw any farther. Adding anything with mass (ie any type of gas) will increase the mass (therefore density) of the mast compared to having the mast evacuated.

I guess that means that means you Tornado types are big on farting contests too then? Well, that's only true since the development of "breathable" drysuits...
