Jim and I are gonna sit on the fence for now - I'd love to come but it's hard to choose between the Tybee, GT and the North Americans. I did all 3 this year - but that is unlikely to fly with SWMBO in 2010.

Most if not all the FL F18's will be at the Tradewinds, we can bang around some ideas and logistics on the beach.

Logistics are cake if you hit it hard and early with 100% committed teams. Multiple trailers or a trucking company or a Craig's List driver (don't laugh - Ian Sammis used one) or a rail container - the price-point per team becomes very economical as long as you have a core group.

Mid-August is kinda rough with work and a currently stacked regatta schedule.
I'd love to go, i'd be totally in if it was in September but not so sure about August.

Every year with you, Todd. Get there. September, we'd all be popsicles. Different venues have different conditions and optimal windows - take them as they come. Or you can just sit on your duff and wait until the event comes to your doorstep, but we'll all have an extra year of training on you.

Ouch JDubbs! I went out to Nacra 20 NAs in MI two years ago so it's not every year! Long Beach was just a $ issue. I'm stretching it to go to FL in a few weeks.
Only you Floridians/ Californians (not sure which one you are anymore) would be popsicles... Canadian Nationals were in Toronto in Sept. and it wasn't bad at all!
Doesn't anyone else have a busy summer regatta schedule that would favor a late or early season event?

Not FL, our season is the fall, winter and spring. FL summers can get a bit unpleasant not to mention the occasional cat 2/3 rain shower, yes Robi I know you love the heat... freak. So, for FL August is pretty much wide open.

Greetings all racers,

I am a freelance photographer that will be covering the F18 Championships for the Racine Yacht Club next week. Images of the on water action will be available on my website (www.craigbrandtphotography.com) should anyone be interested. Best wishes to all of you that are competing and see you out on the water!

Craig

I'm with Todd on this, my boat and skipper will be there with a different crew as I simply don't have the time to go to a MONDAY - FRIDAY regatta in mid august (seriously, why not Thursday - Sunday, let me worry about days off for travel).

Now the Can nationals, I'll be there again, Todd?

I realize southern fleets are looking for stuff to do in the summer, much like us northerners are looking to Florida in the winter, but August is busy for anyone north of (and including) Savannah, whereas September / October (and maybe April / May) tend to work for most fleets for Nationals / North Americans.

Guess it just comes down to a lack of National / North American F18 unified regatta schedule, which is probably years away from happening.

K, I should stop venting, I'm just mad at myself for not being able to go ;-)
