They're fun on a N20. I'll take them any day, they make the time fly by.

You got it! There's nothing like it...and makes for really short days too! Our first Tybee had a couple of days like that and wow...if I only had a clue then. It's almost like skiing down a mountain....carve carve carve.

That said, however, you can keep your 30 knots of wind in that stuff...the fun starts to fade right at about 20 to 22k.

And the beam doesn't slap if you keep the hull a'flyin (but you still better hang on just in case the bronco decides to buck).

beam doesn't slap in rollers. Its the choppy schit that it slaps in.

Love carving the surf. Its fun as hell.

First, I appreciate everything Chuck and gang do to put this race on. There would be a real vacuum in catsailing without their efforts. However, as far as the ball kicking goes, I think you have that backwards. The N20 sailors never said or implied anything negative about anyone or their efforts. I just took the opportunity to point out how some irony is shaping up in regards to some year-old statements.

I genuinely hope more F18s show up for the betterment of the race.

You say irony I say sarcasm, bottom line is how Chuck reads it.

As for the F18's and Tybee, Jake you and I both know there is only so much time and money we can spend on a hobby, and there are LOT of MAJOR events vying for the F18 fleet, here’s the short list:

Alter Cup – how many N20 drivers qualified and/or petitioned, and how many F18 drivers qualified and/or petitioned?

Canadian Nationals – the 2009 event was very successful and had a lot of our NE sailors competing I suspect it’s marked as a can’t miss event for more than a few of them this year.

NAF18 Championship – and for selfish reasons I’d rather see our F18 teams there.

Great Texas 300 – Lot’s of F18 teams there!

How many Tybee N20 teams attended their 2009 national championship? How many Tybee teams plan to be at Racine?

The point is for the N20 teams I see listed this is your major event for the year, for the F18 drivers it’s a major event on a list of major events. Choices have to be made.

SPOT requirement?

SPOT, the name suits it well. We tried to promote it a bit in the GT last year and found the on the water feedback to be a bit "SPOTty" and decided not to deal with them again this year. No teams are discouraged from using them, however, we are not promoting them. I think they are great in a certain capacity but not as a requirement.

Back to the F18 subject; As a N20 sailor, I am hoping to see more of the F18 crowd do these races. The boats are pretty equal in performance now with the evolution of the F18 rig. The 18's proved their capability, now lets hope it wasn't a one time deal. They've been doing it in the GT for years now, so no reason to not do it in the Tybee 500.

Plus most F-18 sailors are wussies that only want to go around marks. If you think you fit in the most category, you probably do.If you bitch about it, you definitely do. In the words of Unknown Hinson "Thank about it".

Wussies!? That's it?

Besides do we really want to listen to another four months of how bad the N20 sail plan is? Yeah... it was the sail plan... Oh wait, I guess we will there are 3 F18's registered... damnit!

For the record F18 drivers do both well, straight lines and corners we have mad skills that way.

On the trophies from last year - the first batch were delivered and the second batch is ready for delivery. If you did not receive your trophy you can either pick it up at the event this year or contact me with a shipping address. Sorry for the delay - they look very nice and a big thank you to Mike Krantz for a top-shelf job.

Now Dave,
That wasn't directed at you. I told you I wouldn't pick on you anymore, what with your fragility after the F-16 thing.
