They were well back, but Goodall/Goodall beat Ashby/Spithill by two seconds in race 11!

Results through race 11

Looks a bit different today.

Wow...whatever happened today shook things up quite a bit!

Looks like a 3 horse race now
One wildcat, one infusion and one C2 - just how it's meant to be!
One FRA, one GBR and one AUS!

Winds where all over the place today, we did the first race in very light winds and finished somewhere at the end of the silver fleet.
Then the RC sent us back to the beach for an hour untill the wind filled back in.
The second race had perfect conditions with around 15kts of breeze, we where first to the top mark but fell back because we had a HUGE piece of weed stuck to lee board (seaweed is a big problem here!), ended up finishing 19 or something.
We where a bit too aggresive on the third start and got a black flag and returned to the beach.
"fortunately" a lot of sailors didnt see the Course1 flag and sailed Course 2 instead ;-)

The level of all the sailors here is very high, even in the silver fleet people make very little mistakes, in the gold fleet even the top sailors are strugling to stay at the top.

Did you guys see the awesome helicopter footage they shot yesterday?
Last day tomorrow and an early start at 11:00, I really hope there is some wind that early in the day.

I hope we don't see any team racing going on. That sort of thing happened in the J/24 class in the 1980's amongst the different sail makers. It was not good for the class.

You guys need to get out more. What Bob said was the furthest from my mind when I read the prior post, and may (hopefully) very well NOT be the case at this event, but there are more than a few examples of where this has happened in the past.

It's not always boats/sailmakers, either. PU has some good stories from people taking "national pride" a bit too far during some past Hobie Worlds.

Those numbers don't seem to line up...take Goodall for example...that is, unless I really don't understand what I'm looking at.

Mike there is no doubt that what you're talking about has happened but as far as we know it hasn't been an issue at this event or previous F18 Worlds and the post was a bit of a buzz kill.

Let me put it this way, It would be a real credit to the F18 class if this didn't happen. In other classes the temptation has proven to be too large to overcome.
