The columns of c.1 - c11 are the places in those races. The columns Pos1 - Pos11 are their standings overall after each race. I thought it was interesting to see how they move positions after each race then decided to keep each race to refer to. The last column is their present position.

Posts: 1,203 uk | Race 13 had GBR7 in 2nd and FRA36 in 3rd on the tracking, bit of a gap between them so some no-trackers may have got in there.
I make it that GBR7 will drop a 12th when the discard comes in and FRA36 a 10th
So it could be all square at the top with it all coming down to the last race!
AUS888 was 6th on the tracker so may well be out of it now.

Posts: 1,203 uk | WOW - what a final leg! The 2 front runners dueling it out with GBR7 doing a 360 at the gate
I think that FRA36 may have clinched it

Posts: 12 | I think Styles is artificially high with the redress given by the jury. So you think an average of 13 from the 15 races sailed (soon to be) is artificially high ? BTW including the actual race where he was sinking and still got a 12th place . Yes i assume your yanking our chain with that comment then !!! | | | Re: F18 Worlds - Multimedia

Posts: 807 Hillsborough, NC USA | So what is the redress and average of? it wasn't races that day or races so far in gold fleet Will it be an average of ALL races in gold fleet INCLUDING TODAY? - if so he is in the lead! The only requirement for redress given is that it be as fair an arrangement as possible for all boats. Beyond that, it is limited only by the imagination of the protest committee. It could be any of the above, or something else entirely - whatever PC thinks is fair. It would be nice to know what redress was actually given. It is unfair to competitors as nobody knows what his "actual" score is as it keeps changing. That is a very good argument - the boats' relative positions affects their tactics. This is why the USS Judges' Manual recommends against including all future scores in redress. In a major event such as this, you'd typically see average-score redress exclude at least the last day (or last round) of competition. Regards, Eric | | | Re: F18 Worlds - Multimedia

Posts: 3,528 Looking for a Job, I got credi... | I think Bundy is chasing second buy driving Styles as far back in the fleet as possible, forcing Styles' average redress scores up. Agreed; making the redress discussion / decision more interesting; driving him down the fleet effects the current result and previous. Never seen redress average for whole series; just up to the pooint of the award.

Posts: 976 France | Redress to the point of the award would have been somewhat unfair, as it is allegedly easier to pick up lower points during qualifying.
Redress based only on the result of the gold fleet up to the incident would have been unfair as well considering when the issue happened (only one race sailed in the gold fleet, with a hull full of water). Giving them three 12 would have been rough.
Interesting situation.
This said I can't figure out where the 6.3 is coming from on the results published so far. None of the obvious average calculations give me anything meaningful. All the number I'm building are all *lower* than 6.3...
The only way to get to 6.3 I found is to add 1 to all the qualification scores (including the discard) and then average them. But in that case his redress would be fixed, not fluctuating.
[Coming back after looking at all the results so far. I don't see any indication that the RDG is a fluctuating number. How do you know it is?]

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | The start on race 15 was a shambles! GBR7 and AUS888 are sailing each other out of contention With AUS888 having an OCS and GBR7's worst score a 12, AUS888 stands to lose BADLY by getting dragged backwards through the fleet. GBR7 will drop any score worse than a 12 and easily hang on to 2nd place....but then again, AUS88 has 50 points over fourth place. It's a race of the top three as they're only separated by 5 points total.

Posts: 976 France | The way to get 6,3 is: 2,3,3,5,8,11,12=44 / 7 = 6,29
The RDGs previous races
Yeah, but that's 6.29, not 6.30. And they put 6.30, with the zero, in the results. For me it means it is significant. But then, after all, they're French, so I expect them not too be too logical | | |
