So... what I'm reading is that a bunch of politically motivated environmental nazis are the first hurdle, and government red tape is the other?

Wow - look what living in a socialist utopia gets you people. Hope you're happy with the bedfellows you've made.

You mean the systems that democratically elected policy makers put in place? It's starting to look like Mcarthyism all over again around here. Just substitute "socialist" for "communist".

The failure to file for the exemption was by design. Nothing is lost and San Fran is still on the AC map.

The most socialist country in Europe (Spain) didnt have any issues couching up a few hundred million though, even for AC33 they did a good job on the promotionial side of things.
What I would like to know is where would the syndicates like to defend?, most of them are based in Europe and have sponsors who have their interests there.

I thought the interesting part of the Latitude 38 piece was the crews, etc. would rather be in Europe because they would be taxed less.

From a barely-there mono-to-multi convert, multis are definitely the way to go. No more going slow for meeeeeee!

The Li'l AC boats are soooooo SICK. Talk about innovation. The former Army aviation mechanic in me was beyond impressed with the wing techno and overall design. It was awesome seeing that power on the water - I'm so glad I got the opportunity. I'll be stoked to see it translated to the big AC, minus the blown-out court drama of the AC33 that sucked the soul out of me.

Petey Crawford should have his complete highlights video done soon. Can't wait to peek it!

Hi Katie - welcome to Catsailor. There's no rude greeting ritual here, but for you, they should come up with something special.

Everyone, meet Katie Burns. She rocks.

For F!@# sake Tad, do you have to turn every thread into some kind of right wing rant!? You are equally as bad as left wing nutters that post on this forum.

The hard sail reduces the need for sail area reduction. The wing can more efficiently cover a wider set of conditions. When shortening sail is needed, opening the leech is a much more efficient (read as less drag) setup than on a typical mono or cat. They just put them on a mooring, let if feather and have someone there the keep an eye on it. I read something like it's actually very stable when centered and allowed to spin on a mooring.

It would be interesting to see the economics of design and construction. Where one wing could take the place of SEVERAL suits of sails from platform development through the event itself, it might be cheeper in the end.

It's either that or he misunderstood his words. We'll know in a few days.
