Yes. It had it mind to model some small parts and make a mold.

Foam is easy to use for modelling purposes and mold making purposes. Its also inexpensive. Of course, it also depends on the size and shape of the part, foam is not always the best for very detailed small parts.

Also, virtually any hard material can be used for mold making, just make sure to seal it off (wax+PVA) prior to laying fiberglass on top of it.

So, I've decided to continue acquiring parts for the boat over the summer, do design work over the summer and do the build over the winter (hulls and platform).

I spent 2 days training on F18's down at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron and had the realization that I need time on the water and lots of it, the next generation of high school kids is working there way up to kick some serious butt. I would ideally purchase a boat to drive for the summer but finances are always tight so I'd be more than happy to crew for someone in the Annapolis area (F16/N20)...would be good practice for F16 Nationals in September.

The Razor would not be the best choice if you want to race seriously. I have very close friends that have sailed the Razor and it's NO where near competitive with Blades,Taipans or Vipers.

The report I was given was VERY disappointing.
Up close the boat looks very good. Mostly the job Marcus has done. The boat was available for the AUS nationals but they chose to take a borrowed blade instead.

You can get plans to build a Blade this would be a better choice.

Hmm, I'd be very curious to hear the full report on the Razor. Considering the designer for the Blade and Razor are the same, I'm somewhat skeptical of the significant performance hit. Namely, is it the hulls or the platform as a whole, aka, is the rig on the Razor the same as on the Blade?

Anyone seen or heard from Phill Brander recently?
I have been trying to get hold of a set of plans from him for some time but without success.

The rig was transplanted from the Aussie Blade to the Razor. All platform fitting also transplanted.

Only difference is the Hulls. The boat is siting at Victor Harbor in South Australia. Feel free to come and try it for your self.

Designers make mistakes. remember hype is one thing reality is another.

I'm planning to talk over the phone to him soon. I will ask.

I find those two posts amazing & you leave me no choice but to to hose your comments down.

1 - I am the only person to have raced the boat & you are not a close friend of mine.
2 - You have never laid eyes on this boat.
3 - The only component to come from the blade was the rudders

The only statement you got correct is the current location of the boat.

I'd love to come test sail the boat but I am not in Australia and airline tickets aren't getting cheaper!

Can you give more specifics on the following:
1) What rig was used
2) What sails were used

Also, regatta results speak for themselves. If you could post some it would be much appreciated! I wouldn't hold it against this design or any other if it wasn't first. I would prefer not to see dead last but I've been there and it wasn't the boats fault (maybe how it was setup).

I'm sure this is not you. So how many have sailed this boat?

I'll have a cut down F18 mast available after the GT300 next year. I think I'm going to have it re-anodized and that will slim it down a little bit. It'll be heavier than the Goodall F16 mast, but it shouldn't be too bad.
