I like the look of that mainsail, is the spinnaker flatter than the Goodall?

The Spin has the same camber up high but a good bit more down low for more drive and control. We've been out 4 times this past week and it pulls like a freight train. Michael observed a bunch more leeward helm downwind which indicates may indicate more relative power up forward...
I'm finalizing a new main design which mirrors the A-cats a little more than this first draft.

Looks great, it looks as though it might be pushing the mid-girth rule though? I doubt anyone would build one that wouldn't fit into the rule set though.. soooooo

Pat, I reduced the zones from 3 to 2 and already double-checked the mid-girth and overall size. I can print once I know what color you want smile

I'm still waiting for Mythbusters to test that "once you go black.." thing.

The crew was very green and the wind and waves were a little rough so I took the liberty of sticking myself out there.

People on this site have talked a lot about how the mainsail should be cut different depending on whether you are sailing 1-up or 2. I'm wondering... Should the Spin also be cut differently?

For one up the mainsail should be a flatter cut, as for the spin, not necessarily, however if your sailing in more windier conditions, then having a flatter spin may be something to consider.

Dave,
We haven't gone up against Taylor but the spin seems really fast. The leading edge has a finer entry. You have to trim it a little past "taking the curl out". The exhaust is pretty clean 1/2 way up the trailing edge. There's alot of camber down low for power while keeping control...

Thank you Bert, that's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Do have some two boat testing planned?

Nothing organized has been planned. We've been sailing a good bit. Minor changes are being incorporated for Kirk's Nacra Carbon 20- it's wider beam and more powerful platform. will post vids once made...I can iterate a design with you if you want- I enjoy the process.

Any word on schurrs development for the F16 and F18? It would be great to add another sailmaker to the table!
