When the crew trap broke and we left the course they stopped tracking us. I did tell Mark today that we were going home with at least one black flag. Starting in silver is significantly easier.

Posts: 2,584 +31NL | Breakdown of the top 10:
1st - Phantom 2nd - Nacra Infusion mk2 3rd - Cirrus-R 4th - AHPC C2 5th - AHPC C2 6th - Nacra Infusion mk2 7th - Cirrus-R 8th - Nacra Infusion mk2 9th - AHPC C2 10th - AHPC C2 So thats 1 Phantom, 2 Cirrus-R's, 4 C2's, and 3 Nacra Infusion mk2s. About 75% of the top 10 cats are white though, they must be faster | | | Re: F18 Worlds in Long Beach

Backes- Phantom Besson- Infusion MKII Heemskerk- Cirrus R Bundock- C2 Zeekant- C2 Larsen- Infusion MKII Boulogne- Cirrus R (?) De Koning- Infusion MKII Waterhouse- C2 Brouwer- C2
I would say the box rule is working pretty darn well. I believe the top Wildcat is Bissaro in 20th, and the top Infusion MKI is Struble in 24th.

Posts: 4,119 Northfield Mn | Looks like the US is back out of the top ten. Not shocking, and yet I was hopeful.
Looks like JC & Dalton are moving up.
Karl and Beth, keep it up!!!
How does this actually work? The actual event is only three days right? The first six are qualifying to sort the wheat from the chaff right?

Posts: 1,203 uk | Where is the first Wildcat then? I thought it would have been Zeecat- but he has jumped ship. This is a reflection of the support given by Hobie to their sailors.

Just because they're not paying one of the hotshots to drive their platform doesn't mean they aren't there with "support". Ask John Bauldry what kind of support he got when his rig was totalled in a pitchpole/collision. He's sailing again today. | | | Re: F18 Worlds in Long Beach

Posts: 3,116 Annapolis, MD | Good point... Support is quite different from Marketing. As a class member... I would be much more interested in support.... the marketing does me no good!
I don't KNOW who is at the worlds, racing a boat as part of a marketing effort of a builder.... The last worlds ID'd the boats in the scoresheets but you did not know who was there for a builder.
At this stage of the class.... are there significant do many people believe there are differences between the platforms, rigs and sails in the F18s?
Does this kind of marketing by rock star work on the rank and file F18 sailor? or have those days passed and now you are buying dealer support, build quality and other stuff.
My guess is that the DNA platform will be the dominant platform in the A class worlds.... Again... I have no idea who is getting factory support (if at all)

Posts: 4,119 Northfield Mn | I don't think anyone can bring enough spares. I think the AHPC group had three or four masts, but that can go pretty quickly. Same with anything else, boards, spinpoles, rudders/castings, sails. Rough nasty conditions + 100 boats and there can be a shitload of broken parts in a hurry.

No - "20.5 Except for race scores excluded under instruction 20.6, a boat’s series score for the regatta will be the total of her race scores from those qualifying races completed by all fleets and her final races." 20.6 is just the discard rule | | | Re: F18 Worlds in Long Beach

Posts: 2,490 On the Water | If the tweet is correct . . . Aus 325(Waterhouse) and Aus 888(Bundock) black flag race 12 gold fleet. Bundock was going into today's races in 4th. Ouch. FYI, there are two sail #'s 888.
