The counter is awesome, although reminds me how little time I have to finish getting ready to leave.
Leave Brisbane Monday, via Armidale, Sydney, Canberra, Orbost and arrive Paynesville for spinnaker races after 3 and a bit days on the road for 1,700km or so.
Great idea with the bus,I have two non sailors coming whose legs will get tired riding their bikes everywhere.
Brett - results are often up on this forum by someone doing a daily blog, there may be plans to post on mossie website but Tim would answer that. Full results up on National website after the regatta.
See you back here in Qld after, all going well we will have 3 mossies on the water up here with you, Damo and myself.
Look forward to having some other boats to sail against.

Posts: 50 Brisvegas | QLD | Thanks, Damo. Wil be careful on the road, used to long distance travel, need to get the travellers and a boat there in one piece and back home.
Leave Monday morning, my counter has gone off already, I'm on my way...
Merry xmas to all.

Unregistered | Hi all, A warm sunny day with light easterly winds greeted the Mosquito Spinnaker sailors as they arrived from Queensland, South Australia and other parts of Victoria, for the Inaugural Mosquito Spinnaker National Titles on Thursday 27th December 2012. Twelve boats greeted the starter in a building Easterly wind, with a choppy sea. Five races where held in quick succession, with wind gradually building to 15 knots in race 1 and 2 and then backing of to 12 knots in race 3 and then building again in race 4 & 5 to 20 knots, combined with the choppy sea state it was enough for a number of sailors to come to grief, including yours truly. Mitch described my capsize soon after starting the down wind in race 5 as looking like I had picked up a anchor on the end of my spinnaker pole. The end of the pole stuck in the water and stopped and the rest of the boat and I just kept going. Resulting in the most violent capsize that I can remember, I remember hitting the sidestay the bridle and chute mouth and a lot of water, a rough end to what had been a good day. Thankfully damage was limited to bent boat bits and bruising on me, so looking forward to getting back on the horse tomorrow. Hope the wind dies down, south westerly front has just hit Paynesville, forecast to go over 20knots. Unregistered | Hi all,
Before starting today's notes, must make mention of Nicks efforts yesterday in performing a perfect clean dismount from boat, whilst gybing and setting spinnaker perfectly so “Bite Me” proceeded to sail away without capsizing for hundreds of metres, quite a effort in the relatively strong winds.
Three races where held today to finish off the Mosquito Spinnaker National Titles, starting shortly after 11am and finishing about 1pm. Winds where true to forecast from the west, south west to south at 12 to 20 knots, with a small chop. Wind shifts caused some quick changes in places and after breaking their hound fitting the day before the “Splashes of Brilliance' crew got the opportunity to show what a sloop rig can do with spinnaker, winning a race and spending plenty of time at the pointy end of the fleet in the other races, some great racing was had sloop versus cat rig, hammering upwind and down, boat for boat as it should be. Again the wind caused a few capsizes, but thankfully never became too strong whilst racing was on, later in the afternoon it set in at about 30 knots. As more mossies arrived for the no spinnaker Nats.
Forecast is looking good for the start of racing again on Sunday, not too windy (we hope). | | | Re: All Mossies should do Paynesville Nationals

Unregistered | Can't understand why but everybody staying at Tims was late this morning . Yet another big day (Sunday), pleasant invitation race this morning on flat water (except the power boat wash) in mostly trapezing conditions, on a long course. Everybody enjoyed checking each other out. This afternoon, 2 back to back races in mostly 12 -15 knots on choppy water, very gusty and shifting 15 degrees regularly. First race start was keen, Bob and I cleared out after a while to fight to the finish, where with a lunge at the line I won by 4 seconds. Second race start was even keener, big battle for the pin, the youngsters went mad, with Mitch leading from Daniel and I think Nick and Matt around as well, I managed to work my way through them, mostly downwind to take the lead from Mitch only to lose it again upwind, then gain it again on the final run and hold it to a comfortable finish, with Mitch followed by Tim S, Daniel, Matt and Bob 6th. Looking forward to tomorrow, 4 races planned, hope I make it to New Years Eve. | | | Re: All Mossies should do Paynesville Nationals

Unregistered | Hi all, so much for the plan of posting every day things just got to hectic, socialising and racing we came off the water at 5.30pm New Years Eve Well it's all over now 8 days (including 2 lay days) 20 races, what a huge week of sailing, thanks to the 60 odd volunteers from GLYC that made it a enjoyable regatta for all the Mossie sailors. 12 Mossies from 3 states contested the inaugural Australian Mosquito Spinnaker Championships and then 11 sloop rigged Mossies and 22 cat rigged Mossies contested the 41st Australian Mosquito Championships. The racing was intense, with both physical and mental exhaustion a factor, but was soon forgotten back at the club where the socialising was up to the usual Mossie standard, with the welcome BBQ, New Years Eve and Presentation Night a highlight. New Years Day a sightseeing, orchard, winery and brewery tour was held with the bus full of sailors and family enjoying a taste of what East Gippsland has to offer and the use of a local school bus made the social side of the Mossie champs that much more enjoyable for all, as they didn't need to worry about driving. The Presentations where huge as usual with lots of prizes given out, not many sailors went home empty handed or with empty bellies . The Raymond Island Ramble a stern chaser race was a fun way to finish off the week, with 25 minutes between the first and last to start based on times from the weeks racing. As it turned out the gap was too big with the first to start the first to finish, but all the sailors enjoyed the challenge of trying to catch those in front and got to see more of the Gippsland Lakes System, sailing in Lake King as well as Lake Victoria. Now its time to relax at last and for the local Mossie sailors to help run the son of Mossie Titles . The next big event will be the State Titles at Somers YC, hope to see you there. | | | Re: All Mossies should do Paynesville Nationals
