Haven't been to Meningie before, is it one of those venues where it's handy to have a bike to travel from the camp park to the yacht club? Hope so, I have just set up the Mossie trailer to carry the bike, it was already set up for kayak and camping gear . Not sure if I will bring a sailboard, may run out of room for the Mossie .
Merry Christmas all, look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Am finaly nearly packed but not taking the Kayak won't have enough lesiure time, will need to go sailing before the Nats, still have a few things to sort, with all this new rigging.
Hitting the road tomorrow arvo, but only for a few hours, will get serious about driving New Years Eve and arrive New years Day, hopefully with time to set up the big Tarp and little Tent before dark I hope.
When are the SA crew likely to arrive?

Bring your umbrellas and raincoats, maybe even gumboots: Its wet and getting wetter and not from the spray flying off the Toy, B Alert and 9 Lives flying around the lake.

The problem with winning the "old farts" trophy is that it implies age, which also implies possible memory problems and also means that it may be hard to remember to bring it back the next year!
Some Eastern cultures treat it as a delicacy . . I believe the back fillet can be marinated into an awesome treat. For the rest of us it is a pest of inland waters and is illegal to throw back. European Carp.

Don't worry about the umbrellas you guys are in for a treat, not too hot, not too cold. No rain, S to W wind forecast up to Thursday which is flat and fast, should have good sea breeze kick in after lunch each day. Heard someone say that some boats are not doing the spin nats because they are worried about breaking the boat for the Nats, one of the guys at the club asked if you had considered spin nats to be held after the main nats in future years.

Dont worry about damage with spinnaker, all got throuh in excess of 20knots without a problem. It was the non spinnaker boats that where t scared to go out and practice. I'm happy to sail and win whatever, they are all National titles.

Two 2-up boats, sloop rigged I presume. I haven't seen a sloop rigged Mossie with spinnaker; any pics available of that? Could someone write a brief description of the racing please? Congrats to the 4! place getters.
Hi Greg/Debra, Difficult with my fingers to do to much posting by phone.
Yes there have always been sloop mossies racing with kite, that's the only way they race in South Africa, but as most Mossies race.cat rigged in OZ so do the Spinnaker boats.
Spinnaker titles ended up with just 4 races in one day. Only 3 boats started before the time limit expired for the first race, it was very windy and most didn't expect a start. The other 3 races the wind moderated from frightening to fresh by the last, with rig rattling gusts upwind. Daniel Stone sailed consistently faster upwinds than anybody else including the sloop. Matt Stone tried to follow my lead using the kite when most left them in the chute, but swam twice as a result. I finally came undone capsizing in the last run on what was the final gybe, the pack went past now all flying spinnakers as the wind had dropped a little and they got braver and that was the end of the racing. Daniel was incredibly consistent in difficult conditions, sailing more cautiously than me downwind but still put the spinnaker up more than most for a deserved result.
must go jobs to do on the boat, invitation race for no Spinnaker titles starts this arvo, wind is up already hope it's not to much like yesterday, that frown up the top is supposed to be here, b#@ phone.
