Hi wouter

I can confirm that the deposit has been transferred.

I'm looking forward to getting on the water. I hope to see a fair contingent of boats and sailors.

I really am looking forward to meeting John Peirce and seeing the Stealth up close. I hope Dermot and the Spitfires turn up.

It's a long way to travel guys.

So please make it worth our while.

Regards Tony Jenkins.

Hey Tony,

Looking forward to picking you up from Amsterdam Railway station. (Does your wife know you're making a stop over at Amsterdam before coming out to the DCC ?)

I hear you've been training hard to get your overall crew weight down. 78 kg is it now I hear. Man, I think both Phill and I need to embark on a crash diet to match that. I think Phill has a head start on my now. I'm still 88 kg (or my scale is broken). But I have a secret wapon ! For the westland cup I'm baiting an ex-European champion that tips the scales at no more than 72 kg's. I'm trying to get him to steer and I'll put my weight on the trapeze line and spinnaker sheet.

I am completely with you on attractting a Spitfire to the DCC. I fear however that it won't be Dermot as he has indicated that it is unlikely that he will make it over. John Pierce will come as he has to deliver a new boat to a participating Dutch crew as well.

Only 6 weeks now ! And still so much to do.

Tony will you be bringing over your own camping gear ?

Wouter

Yes I plan to travel light. One sleeping bag and two wet suits.(it's not that I don't trust your summer)

As for Amsterdam. Yes my wife dose know. But it is a city I have always wanted to see.

If your asking weather I intend to indulge my self.

Well that will depend on what.

Regards Tony Jenkins

Wouter on a more serious note

What currency shall I bring?

Is the Euro all I need?

And please tell me I won't need to bring a full length wetsuit.

And when you say camping gear. Do you mean more than a sleeping bag?

Regards TJ

Euro's is all you need unless you are thinking about sailing further north than Denmark (500 km Straight north) or further west by 250 km (England) or further south than 2500 km = Spain.

>>And please tell me I won't need to bring a full length wetsuit.

Sorry; minimum coast guard requirement is a shorty although they clearly advice with pressure full length suits for any distance sailing. I think they are totally right in this. I know of several 5 beaufort (thermal) wind days in 30 + celcius degrees air and 18 degrees water (=warm) in which sailor gotten very cold in about 60 minutes sailing. The spray and wind cool very quickly. Personally I will using a shorty in the westland cup bouy racing and a full suit in the touring stages.

I do have some old wetsuit lying around my house which you can probably use if you have a posture compliant with these suits (70 - 85 kg with 1.70 mtr to 1,90 mtr length). But a full wetsuit yes.

Matts ? Pillow ? when possible a small stoove. Not the gascans but just the little foldable thinging that goes on top of that. Your own (plastic) dinner plate + fork, knife, muk etc These things are small and will easily go in your handgear but will help both you and us alot.

Regards,

Wouter
