Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Thanks Jennifer, I just did a quick check on the registration page to see the lastest standing. source : https://host164.ipowerweb.com/~dbh3...on=SelectEventForm&eventType=RegattaIt seems someone has just updated the list and arrange everybody on alfabetical order. There are currently also 8 A-cats listed -1- Bird, Rush A-Class 231 -2- Carlson, Dave A-Class 196 -3- Cope, Woody A-Class 209 -4- Ellis, Dave A-Class 213 -5- Hodges, Bob A-Class USA 230 -6- Lindsay, Jennifer A-Class 147 -7- Mills, Ed A-Class USA-148 -8- Shapiro, Jeff A-Class 167 Wouter

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Thank you very much Hans, I really appreciate that.
The best "thank-you" that I can ever wish for, is to see the F16 class grow and grow and bring alot of enjoyment to their owners. I think it especially gratifying to see boat builders appreciate the F16 structure and participate in it both as builders and sailors. That really says something. Without these guys the F16 class and I would be nowhere and so I like to direct a very large portion of the credit to :
John Pierce Phill Brander Matt McDonald Scott McCook Hans Geissler himself Hans Klok Greg Goodall
and Nico Wessels Boer.
Behind every succes man there stands a great woman and so our combined thanks go out to :
Susan Davies Gina McDonald Alice Lim
And Helen Sharrock
Alice Lim created the Singapore fleet together with Scott McCook.
Several new names are ready to form official local class structures in the coming year. A great welcome and thank you to them. We need volunteers like that to continue the class growth. And we still can use a few more.
So as you can see, there are many hidden names behind the succes and I'm thankful for all and each contributions made by these people. Alot of them were at crucial times.
Soon I'll be replaced as chairman and will set this class free to stand on its own two feet. The time has come to take the trainingswheels off and have the class find her own way. I hope to stay active behind the scenes (websites etc) and see her grow into a great international succes. That would spell a dream-like "thank you" for me and will make all the effort and invested time and money well worth it.
So make me proud all of you boys and girls. It is up to you and us all know.
Thank you all and good luck
Wouter

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Dear interested sailors, source : https://host164.ipowerweb.com/~dbh3...on=SelectEventForm&eventType=RegattaIt appears that Gordon Isco and Mike Hagan are back on the registration list again. The were removed last week but now they are on again. They make the 7th F16 team to entlist themselfs officially for this event. Tom Shannon is a definate now as well, since he has found a place to stay. We now have 4 1-ups and 3 2-ups. The new participation listing for the F16's based on online pre-registration is (as of publication of this post) -1- Caffee, Hollis F16HP (1-up) -2- Geissler, Hans F16HP (1-up) -3- Harnden, Chuck F16HP (1-up) -4- Isco, Gordon Hagan, Mike F16HP (2-up) -5- McDonald, Matt McDonald, Gina F16HP (2-up) -6- Shannon, Tom F16HP (1-up) -7- Stern, Seth Gray, Kelly F16HP (2-up) We still have the second G-cat/mystery crew and Rick White in the "possible attendence" listing. So we may still get up to 9 teams. We also have an extra A-cat sailor added ; making 9 sailors in total -1- Arends, Tony -2- Bird, Rush -3- Carlson, Dave -4- Cope, Woody -5- Ellis, Dave -6- Hodges, Bob -7- Lindsay, Jennifer -8- Mills, Ed -9- Shapiro, Jeff Wouter

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Thanks for the update Seth, I was just about to make this following update myself.
-1- Caffee, Hollis [color:"green"] (1-up) [color:"red"] Taipan -2- Geissler, Hans [color:"green"] (1-up) [color:"red"] G-cat -3- Harnden, Chuck [color:"green"] (1-up) [color:"red"] Blade -6- Shannon, Tom [color:"green"] (1-up) [color:"red"] Blade -4- Isco, Gordon Hagan, Mike [color:"blue"] (2-up) [color:"red"] Taipan -5- McDonald, Matt McDonald, Gina [color:"blue"] (2-up) [color:"red"] Blade -7- Stern, Seth Gray, Kelly [color:"blue"] (2-up) [color:"red"] Taipan -8- Fred Metcalf and Michael Coffman [color:"blue"] (2-up) [color:"red"] Taipan
-9- Mystery crew on G-cat F16 (still likely to attend) [color:"red"] G-cat
It is great to see Michael Coffman on a Taipan again. Haven't heard from him for a while !
I think 9 boats will be the number of F16's that will come out. That is unless Constantine Serementis or Jeffrey Woodard each load their Taipan up in Maryland and Atlanta and drive down. Ricks chances of coming out have just decreased due to family issues, happy ones I may add. And we have have no more Florida based F16 sailors who are free to come out. Robi, Tim, Kirby, etc all have commitments elsewhere.
We may just get another boat from outside of Florida to attend but these show-ups are always uncertain till the very last moment.
So it looks like 9 boats will about right, with some considerable luck we'll make it a nice 10 boats.
Seeing more F16's attend then A-cats will be tricky as I expect a few last minute A-cat additions and our chances of growing passed 10 boats are pretty remote. On the sunny side of things though, we'll have more F16 sailors at the event then A-cats sailors. Currently the score is 14 to 9 in our favour ! Especially with the age advantage we have in comparison to the more senior A-cat sailors; we'll be assured a win if it ever comes to a bar room fight !
I think I said this all the times before: A nice mix of boats : 4 taipans, 3 Blades, 2 G-cats

Posts: 1,382 Essex, UK | Mary, sshhhhh. ISAF might hear you. You can't say n-a-t-i-o-n-a-l-s! If you want to call it the US Plastic Goblet F16 Championship it'd be OK though. Oh, and no, I don't think you'd be required to have a minimum number of boats to call it a Not-The-US-F16-Nationals... So why not do it anyway if you think that's going to be the largest concentration of F16s this year? Not very fair on those F16s who didn't know that it was going to be the Non-Nationals.

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | Since this event is as close to a national event as the F16HP class can support at this time here in the United States, I wonder if the winner will be invited to sail in the Alter Cup next year?
That is a good question. Maybe some US F16 sailor should contact US sailing and see if this flies ? My personal minimum for a nationals would be 10 boats attending and racing; but we are indeed close to that. Wouter

Posts: 5,558 Key Largo, FL & Put-in-Bay, OH... | Well, in the United States I have never heard of a class asking for permission to hold a National Championship. I am absolutely positive that it is not required. (I can't speak for ISAF Classes, but it is definitely not required for non-ISAF Classes.) We have been holding the Wave National Championship for many years, and we hosted the first and only F16 National Championship (only five or six boats at it ). The only reason I asked whether there was a minimum number of boats required for an F16 Nationals was that I thought maybe the class itself has put in some sort of rule about that. So why not have the 2nd F16 Nationals at Gulfport? | | |
