Here is a beautiful A-cat. Looks like WRC strip, but is it? With aramid Maxx mainsail and everything.

Does anybody know more about the boat? And is it an identical sistership in the background?

Yes such a beautiful boat!

This is the boat of Andi Scheurer, A-Class Boat builder of Switzerland.

The two A-Classes are made of carbon except of the skin mahagony (wood). Even the Rudderblades have this skin.

These are the standard ventilo rudders and castings. Very nice system and allmost trouble free.

It looks as though the locking mechanism on the casting is not locked into the other casting, and the arm is bungeed to the other arm to keep them in the down position. Seems like you could get impaled by those upper arms that are sticking up 3-4 inches in a flip or pitchpole. Is that right?

Well the bungee may helps to keep the rudderdown, but the they are actually locked down by a plastic nut and the opposite on the casting

Ah, so the "wooden" A's are carbon sandwich with a layer of veneer. I am a bit disappointed, as I was hoping somebody out there was busy building competitive wooden A's

Well, isn't the carbon in carbon fiber from wood cellulose, thus making them wooden boats after all?
