Were are nearing our 5 year jubilee of our F16 forum.

On july 12th, just over 2 weeks from now. The F16 forum will have in active use for 5 years. Our F16 project started in earnest in the last week of may 2001, but our forum only did in the second week of july that year.

Any idea's on how to celebrate this ?

I do think something is in order as we have proven to be a extremely active forum.

After all in 5 years time we have logged over 9000 posts in 937 threads. Currently we are at 9007/937 and we still have about two weeks to go.

This means we have averages like :

daily postings = 4.98 per day = lets say 5 per day.
weekly postings = 34.91 per week = say 35 per week
yearly postings = 1815 per year

We also have :

3.63 new threads per week and 9.61 postings per thread. The last shows a very healthy culture of discussion.

These numbers place us as the second forum on all specs next to the open forum. The 3rd largest forum is the Hobie 16 forum with about 2400 post less and significantly lower posts per thread rate.

I think we can be quite proud of this achievement. Lets not forget that halve may 2001 there was absolutely nothing in the way of F16 class formation. Even the posting that started it all had not been made on the old forum that has now been fully replaced by this forum. So in effect our count should be a little higher still.

So again, anybody got a good idea to celebrate this ?

At the very least, we should decide on a time and have a toast!

Is their one particular time when we are all "normally" awake?

OK, to celebrate I'll fly over to Amsterdam and buy Wouter a beer or three, on July 12! Who's coming with me? Pete? Robi?

Yep, Tim I think you are on. Seems like a good way to celebrate. Some F16 sailing with you and then afterwards party with a few Heinekens ! Just enjoying the boat.

I have extra's but I don't know how "small" your rear end is. Although I guess I personally give you a run for your money in that area.

I pretty much have everything and you seemed to largely have my build so I guess you can leave everything at home except your harness and maybe a wetsuit in case the weather is not cold enough for a drysuit. I don't have a wetsuit for you. Ohh, maybe some special long underwear for the drysuit.

You don't want to know what they are charging these days for International flights. Most are already sold out for the entire summer. You cannot buy a ticket to Rome or Paris for the entire month of July, at any price.

OK, I saved you the trouble, I just checked and the cheapest round trip ticket MCO-AMS is $1,447, in coach of course. But I'll buy the beer over there!

Check out www.Delta.com and see what it costs for Orlando-AMS, or anywhere else. Hey first class is about $4,000.

Well, are you coming over here or am I going over there?? I think the Euro exchange rate is about $1.25 US to 1 Euro. That would make that price better than the Orlando price. Orlando is a very busy and popular tourist destination (becuse of Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, Kenedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach, etc.) so the Miami flight is cheaper even though a little longer.

Wouter,
5 years...!
How time flies when your having fun.
Now all we have to do to top it off is get together and get p.....and talk what has happenned in the last 5 years- a bit like talking about the old times.
Yet that wouldn't work because..... this is just the beginning...!
Formula 16 - IT IS THE WAY Forward!

Regards,
Phill

okay phill, your post takes the prize in striking the right cord.

But indeed lets look forward to the next 5 years and the new generation of F16's like the Blade/Capricorn F16 and just maybe the Bim F16 (a true F16 this time) and see if any of these can beat the newest Stealth F16

on 26th june we had 9007/937 posts and threads.

today morning 10 july 2005 (2 weeks later) we have 9264/952 posts and threads

This means that in the past 2 weeks we have added no less then 257 postings !

And of course 15 new threads.

That comes out at an average of about 18 new posts PER DAY. WOW !

This really pulling our 5 years averages up. For our 5 year daily postings have passed 7 posts per day now (it was 5 post per day).

Something is accellerating here.
