Well this will be great, probably 8 F16's in this event.
I hope to see you out there, we will be there with a lot of our club members from friday till sunday and we sleep(if we have time for that) at camping "de Quack" on the other side of the dune just a few hundred meters from the beach, that's why our cat will be at the end of the beach.
And if we are not there we will probably be at the clubhouse underneath the bar! Or on the water drifting away on this. (see attachment)
Hope to see and meet you all there.

Hey buddy I am just poking fun at you. In other words, just making fun of what you are saying. NOTHING is serious, learn to relax a bit will you. You are going to blow a fuse over things posted on the net someday. When that happens I will say "Told you so" <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Robi - I think you're mis-reading Wouter's response. That question mark makes a world of difference <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

So, barring any last minute changes, it looks like I'm on for this <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

See you all on Saturday!

Okay Paul and everybody else.

It appears Hans chances of coming out are looking good.

Frank is not coming out to this event.

My boat is on the trailer but I won't give any garantees that I'll be there although with Paul coming out I hardly can afford not to come out.

Looking good so far. If weather is decent I may see you guys saterday. If I come I will be there very early in the morning. Think 8:00 am at the latest.

This is news from the latest Ronde Tiengemeten newsletter;

-Weather forecast: 20°C / 4 bft

-It is likely that the limit of 300 boats will not be reached. It is still possible to subscribe.
Cost: 80 euro’s for a 2 person boat and 50 euro’s for a solo boat.
Subscription location near the large parking place

-the RTG(ronde Tiengemeten)was set-up as a performance trek, in which participate should be easy for everybody.
First of all everybody should be able to sail and have fun, but the achiefment will be rgistered.
Therefor RTG does not want to make any restrictions to anyone who want to participate, but RTG rely's on the spotivity of the participants.
This containes that there are classes formed but sailors in that class will not be tested for ther ongoing classrules.
for instance it is possible that there are sailors who on RTG are sailing in the F18 class allthough they are not officially a registered member of that F18 class and don't have an officialy measurement letter of their boat.
Also crew weight is not measured, which would be necessary if this was an official race.
Therefore it is not possible to claim any rights one the outcome of the race.

-Class boats will not be officially registered and therefore the results will not be officially valid for the specific class organisation.

See you there this weekend! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

With Hans 99 % certain I guess I have to come out as well.

Lets hope the weather will be nice. I hate rigging and derigging in the rain compounded by a long boring float in no wind.

latest weather report says :
weather at Haringvlietdam

They should race on Friday or Sunday because they predict more wind then, but for a lot of you 3bft would probably be ok.

have a nice race <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Give me those 8-10 knots of wind !

And some sunshine to go with that !

As a singlehanded F16 I can like those conditions. Enough to fill the spi and not strong enough for the sloop F18's to really get going.

Sadly it looks like a beam reach back and forth. And my spi simply does not reach very well.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Come on Wouter be a bit more positive, we have a saying round here "A quitter never wins and a winner never quits" I'm sure if you treated your 'sailing' with the same enthusiasum as the technical geeky stuff you could go faster. Or is all this talk of being slow and last just a ploy to dub the opposition? We shall soon see.

According to Windguru by the time we start the wind will be West-10kts turning S-SW during the afternoon.
If we're lucky we might be able to spinnaker a large part of the race.
The race start near the dam at Hellevoetsluis (top-left corner), then its around the island of Tiengemeten (bottom-right) and then to the finish at the same place we started.

Would it ever make sense to point higher than rhumb line for a while, pop the spinnaker for a while, and repeat? Is it possible that the VMG on average would be better than a main-only beam reach?
