I just ran the number through a conversion program I have. kw is Kilowatt, right?...... If its 440hp thats about what ours are rated at. New ones are 435 or 445 hp. They're a great looking car with out being flashy. I like that in a vehicle, quick but bored small town police don't follow it for no real reason like they would a Camaro or Mustang

Seems like everytime I pull my boat out I'd forget the chip in the mast base. Loose it everytime. Except coming back from S. Padre one made it 1400 miles home. I buy em by the fist full, loose some, misplace others, actually wear out two a year and buy about 15. I've lost at least 2 Leathermans from leaving em on the tramp. Poor luck, or poor attentiveness to where I leave my stuff.

Driveing From Sydney to Melborne (est 1000kms) got to melborne.Once we had removed the boats from the trailer we found that the trailer had all but snapped in half. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />The square section had cracked three sides leaving just one side holding the trailer togeather.
Traveling on bumpy outback roads at about 110Kph it probably would have been lucky to have gone another 50kms.

When I had my 16 I got tired off paying Hobie prices for the chips. Get a piece of pipe about the size of the chip. Take it to a grinding wheel and sharpen to a cutting edge. Go buy Teflon from a plastic supplier in sheets, Take a hammer and punch out your own. I did it in the 80's. Much cheaper!!!!

Or, just drill a few 1/16" holes no more than 1/16" deep in the mast base. These will "grab" the chip. You will not loose that chip after teh first sail with that mod. Worn chips are actually hard to remove. I would only use 2 per season if I sailed every day.

I've got a brand new boat now. That chip holder idea works quite well. I think buying the teflon by the sheet is the way to go. The guy who bought my old 16 used to work at a place that handled things of that nature he was supposed to punch out a bunch for me but apperently forgot.

I had friends that cut circles out of milk jugs and stuck them in there. Said it worked great! Hows that for recycling?
