Posts: 221 Netherlands | Please find below the statement of the F16GC in response of the posts above.
To all F16 sailors/members,
In a follow up to the forum issue about the F16 meeting in Zandvoort, we, as the F16 Governing Council (F16GC), think this kind of meeting needs to be held. This is so that we can set issues on paper after the internet discussion and voting. We, as F16GC, believe that you need to have a good organisational structure to run any class in a 'proper' way, otherwise it will have no focus and decision making can lack accountability. This does not mean that we want to skip the whole internet issue and the ablity to vote via the internet. When there is a ballot needed than this will be done via the internet forum, so everybody can read it and discuss it if they want. The final result of the ballot will also be available via the internet. The F16GC class structure is not being discussed on the internet because we believe there is no value in having this discussed with everybody. So in conclusion we can say : Class issues where the members need to give their point of view and/or a ballot is needed this will be done via the internet forum, but give us the time to make this happen, we are doing all the groundwork for the class besides our regular work.
With best regards, Hans Klok Chairman F16 Governing Council | | | Re: F16 Meeting

Posts: 1,382 Essex, UK | Hi Rolf,
I interpret 'proper' as responsible, with due diligence, methodical - and I believe that is what Hans is trying to achieve.
I also know that no arrogance was intended in Hans' post - you'd have to search hard to find a less arrogant guy! When Hans talks about discussions with 'everybody', he means EVERYBODY - not just those who have a direct involvement in the class. And including EVERYBODY in every discussion is not usually productive. There is a lot of work going on in the background with emails and PMs flying back and forth between key people. Once issues have been narrowed down to the point where they can be put to class members, THEN an open discussion or ballot can take place.
As for putting things down on paper, if the class is ever to achieve ISAF recognition, we have to be seen to hold democratic annual meetings and class business correctly recorded.
I'm sure Hans will give you his response too.

I'm sorry I didn't expect to have Phill on my couch at 4 am in the morning uploading pictures of the Global Challenge.
I poured him full of cheap rum, but I've seen him work on a single sentence in the daily report for 35 minutes because of it.
Serves me right for not serving him quality stuff !

Yes I thought so too, but then I discovered that indeed there is a inversion point, beyond with the effects are reversed. Wouter
